Guys,

I'm toying with the idea of upgrading the stereo in the Jag. Since I put a new Kenwood Double Din iPod unit in Mrs GOO's Laguna, I've been suffering from audio envy - it sounds much nicer than the factory fit radio in the S-Type (even if it is made by Alpine).

I'm idealy looking for a double din touch screen unit with Blue Tooth and iPhone compatibility. There's a couple of interesting units, that seems to tick all the boxes

http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/ddx8024bt.asp
http://www.carpages.co.uk/news/alpin...t-25-08-09.asp

I'm not worried about the lack of Nav, as I have that on my phone.

Any suggestions to alternatives, and advice on where to buy? I got Mrs GOO's stereo on the spur of the moment from Halfrauds, mainly due to the fact it was on offer - and lucked out. But as this is going in the Jag, I don't want to take the risk of buing an utter pup from a bunch of cowboys.

Ta.

Context: I'm nearing the end of the winter term of my 2nd year as an undergraduate. I have a 2000-word essay on Christianity in modernity due in this friday; a 3000-word one on English cathedrals due a week on monday, the 7th; two more, 2500 words each, due a week on friday, the 11th; and a 3000-word one due in January.

This isn't the first time I've been in this situation; in fact, it's more or less a typical university experience, and I'm sure it'll be familiar to those of you at uni now. Two days ago I began questioning my being at uni, and now I'm absolutely certain: there is no good reason for me being here. I am essentially paying £6,400 a year to be stressed and unhappy.

The main things keeping me here initially were (a) terror of being stuck in a dead-end job with no prospects, and (b) social opportunities. Well, I'm not a socialite, it turns out. (Big surprise for somebody whose first source of advice is Bit-Tech, right?) (a) still applies, but frankly I'm no longer convinced this is worth it. I'll have to be earning about £30k a year when I leave just to be able to pay off my debts.

So it's stressful, it's not a good financial plan and it's not a social gold mine. Lastly, it's also not interesting. I've been so caught up in the anxiety of getting work in on time that I never really noticed how unenjoyable the work is in itself. I just don't find it interesting - well, I do, but in a newspaper column sort of way, not a write-10,000-words-on-it way. Frankly I don't think I find anything interesting enough to warrant the amount of work that a degree entails.

So this is just an appeal for advice, really. Is there a good reason to stay here that I haven't noticed? Is life without university really a dreadful mire of despair and poverty? (Because life with it certainly is :thumb:)

Hi.

I'm someone here can help, because I'm sure Netgear's support are fobbing me off.

I'm running Windows XP Pro and have an ASUS P5K Premium motherboard, which has a wireless device built into the motherboard as well as two network ports ('Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller' & 'Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC').

The other day I replaced my existing router with a Netgear WNDR3700 router using the supplied CD, but towards the end it complained it lost the wired connection to my PC. I rebooted, and still couldn't connect to the internet via the wired connection, but I could connect to the internet via the wireless device built-in to my motherboard.

I looked in 'Network Connections' and I could see both wired ports say 'Network cable unplugged' (but one port was connected to my router). When I disabled the connection which was physically unplugged, the other connection icon changed to 'Acquiring network address', followed by 'Connected', then I can access the internet via the wired connection (I verified this by disabling the wireless connection afterwards). I can repeat this with the other wired connection with the same results.

I didn't have to disable any network connections when my old router was connected, so I'm guessing there's something not quite right and I'm probably bypassing a problem by disabling one of my network connections? I suspect I just need to change a network setting somewhere.

I contacted Netgear, and they just replied "You can only use one network connection at a time, so I'll have to keep my other connection disabled". This is rubbish in my opinion, although I suspect they mean I can only connect one of my network connections to the same router - but I'm not trying to do that. I might just want my other connection to a different network or directly to another PC using a cross-over cable or something...

Thanks, Jason.
