Problematic sales on the Market Place

Group Created by Teelzebub

In response to recent suggestions for seller ratings or a warning system within Market Place, I have been told by the mods that no such system will be implemented and that some of them would rather the Market Place was closed completely.

However, the mods have agreed to me setting up a group to record significantly problematic sales on the Market Place reported by buyers as an aide memoire and to reinforce the "buyer beware" message but they will have no involvement in it.

Names of sellers and post # will be maintained by me in index pics at the top of the log to make it easy to check if a seller is listed and which post # holds details of the sale together with a link to the original thread. Note though this record will only be as complete and accurate as the information provided to me.

If you're a seller listed but dispute a post about your sale please post your side of the story and it will be linked in the index to the original post.

Any one can post their problematic purchasing experience but when posting please copy the template below into your post and fill in as few or as many of the fields as appropriate to make it easy for purchasers to find out more information.

No opinions from parties not involved in the transactions should be posted in this group. Any such posts will be removed

Please PM me, whether you're the posting buyer or seller, with your post number and sale concerned so I can add the details to the index pics.

None, as there is no contact

    Overall experience (rate 1(lowest) - 5): 3.

Was very quick to answer & post. Would have been a nice, smooth sale if the card had arrived. I still don't really believe this to be malicious, but not answering for about a month is not acceptable.

I dispute the rating provided by Cruelinios as it's not in line with other ratings given by other people in much worse situations. I kept in communication with the buyer explaining exactly what the problem was and when I could refund in full. I also told the buyer than if the SSD was returned before I can make the refund then I would send it to him. Also the date given is incorrect. I contacted him on the 20th of November after he sent me a message on Twitter. No contact was made on the 20th of October since the sale was completed on the 28th of October.

Other people have had much worse experiences with other sellers with no contact at all or refunds refused and these buyers gave scores of 1 or 2. I find it grossly unfair that demands are made to ban me from the forums and give me a score of 0 when a refund was given and I kept in contact. The 'other incident' that people refer to was a monitor sold which was lost in transit and a refund was given later than planned as I received no further contact from the buyer and I genuinely forgot until I was reminded on twitter. A refund was issued the very same day for that. If I was really going to rip people off then I would had done so for each of the high value phones I've sold on the forum, the several motherboards I've sold etc etc. But I'm not out to rip anybody off.. I'm here to sell some things I don't need and conduct business in the correct manner. I messed up this time but banning me from the forum is very unfair.

Goods purchased (list all): OCZ SSD
    Price paid (optional): £40
    Problem experienced:

    - Paid on the 29th October. Was told I would be sent a message as soon as it was sent and he's give me the tracking details.
    - No communication for over a week after this, sent multiple messages, no reply until the 7th October telling me the SSD had developed a fault but couldn't pay me back until the following week.
    - No message or contact after this until the 20th October, the only reason he responded to me was because I found him on twitter and sent an abrupt message to him. Told me he still couldn't pay me and I would get the money back on the 30th.
    - Messaged him back a reply saying that I wasn't happy about, went on the original thread and multiple people replied with help to which he got arsey with me in messages.
    - Eventually got paid back on the 30th.

To sum up, he didn't seem to think it was too much of a hassle to take £40 off of someone, spend it, not deliver a product, not tell me about this until I contact him, then take over a month to get £40 together to pay someone back.

    - Goods not received (list items): OCZ SSD
    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): Yes (VERY POOR)
    - Unreasonably late despatch/receipt (time frame): thread 28/10/11 - paid back on 30/11/12

    - Other (explain): Very poor member of this forum - should be banned from the for sale forum and not allowed to do this again - has done this before with someone else.

    Refund offered or refused: refunded

Goods purchased (list all): Antec Case

    Problems experienced:

    - Goods not as described : Case received with a boatload of dust, he said that he would wipe it off and even said in a pm he did but that is obviously not the case

Many scratches on the case; pictures can be found in my profile

Expansion slot was missing; he never stated this

    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): yes and no, seller responded at first then seems to have left the forum

I rate this experience 2/5 the 2 is for the seller actually responding at first but hasn't been online since

Goods purchased (list all): Several processors (bought via the thread), GTX 550 Ti and waterblock (arranged by PM)
Price paid (optional): £15 for processors, £110 for the GPU and waterblock
    Problem experienced
    - Goods not received (list items): I have yet to receive either package or proof of shipping
    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): Y
    - Unreasonably late despatch/receipt (time frame): It's been over 2 weeks for the processors. The GPU was meant to be shipped last week, but he said he misunderstood how long I was away and was going to ship a couple of days ago. Still no tracking number.

Refund offered or refused: He said if he found the tracking nunmber (it wouldn't be lost if it had ben PMed!) and confirmed non receipt of the processors he would refund. he has not been in the time that he said.

Overall experience (rate 1(lowest) - 5): 2 (I'll amend that depending whether he bothers to contact me and whether I get my goods or a refund)

Goods purchased (list all): 2.5inch sata HDD 500gb scorpio blue
    Price paid (optional): £35
Problem experienced: Sent me a drive that did not work. Accepted it back saying he would send me a replacement immediately. Then advised me that it was difficult to get hold of a replacement but that he would do so in a week. A week later, no drive, so I PM again, and get told he is sending one out the next day. No drive, and has not logged in for around a month (but did so on 20/2/12). I am still owed my money and am very unhappy with this. I presume this person is operating on a different name (if mods happy I will post his full name here)

    - Goods not received (list items): 2.5 inch HDD
    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): Yes
    - Unreasonably late despatch/receipt (time frame): thread 28/11/11, returned december 2011, no replies since
    - Goods DOA/faulty (list items): 2.5inch HDD
    - Goods not as described (explain): Not working
    - Inadequate packaging (y/n):n
    - Other (explain): Very poor member of this forum - should be banned and not allowed to do this again - has done this before with someone else.

Refund offered or refused: advised on telephone would refund me by paypal but did not do so.

Goods sold (list all): SAPPHIRE Pure Black X58 PB-CI7S41X58
    Price paid : £75 (+ 16 for shipping)
    Problem experienced
    - Payment not received: So stupidly did something nice for xmas here. Offered to send the motherboard prior to payment to Soniclord, we had a chat and he offered to pay once he sold an item or two or at the lastest the 10th of Jan.
Soniclord:Either way I'll be upgrading my rig soon anyway but I'll be upfront with you I probably won't have the money to give you for the mobo till 10th January (unless my stuff sells before then) So it's entirely up to you if you want to wait or find another buyer in the meantime?

    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): Communication until 12th Jan 2012 but now ignoring all contact.

    - Other (explain): Some quotes from the sellers last contact to further my frustration:
    Before dispatch:
Soniclord:I really appreciate it, seriously! I'm glad some people are still trusting in this world (sorry for sounding like an old man, I'm only 30! lol) but it just does my head in when people don't stick to their word when it comes to paying for something they've committed to, that's why decent people end up becoming twats later in life because nasty/untrustworthy people make them that way.
    Latest Contact:
Soniclord:I am still alright to pay you mate, to be honest though i'm not using the board, I was but then decided to go SandyBridge! Stupid I know, anyway I will still pay you, just give me a couple of days to see if I can sell it on (if not I'll pay you anyway) or I can send it back to you lol, only joking

Anyway it was bad enough to do the favour and post it without payment. On top of that I posted it PF express to get to him before xmas... nobody wants to be without a computer over xmas after all!

Refund offered or refused: Since there's been no communication I've not had any of the orignal payment. He clearly had money too as he sold items to both Chicken76 & FIBRE+ (see problems bellow)

    Overall experience (rate 1(lowest) - 5): 1 currently.

Goods purchased (list all): GTX 275 graphics card
    Price paid : £60 (45 for the card + 15 for shipping)
    Problem experienced
    - Goods not received: The card hasn't arrived yet although it should have been here more than a week ago.
    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): No communication at all since the 30th of December when I made the payment.
    - Unreasonably late dispatch/receipt (time frame): Seller has not even confirmed that the goods were dispatched.
    - Other (explain): Payment was completed and confirmed by him on the 30th. We agreed that the item would be posted on the 3rd of January. No communication from him since, despite trying to contact him several times. He seems to be active on the forums, but just ignoring my messages.

Refund offered or refused: Since there's been no communication, there was no refund offer. At this point however, I would prefer a full refund.

Overall experience (rate 1(lowest) - 5): will give a rating once this transaction has been completed, one way or another.

Goods purchased (list all): i7 860, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro v2, p55-ud3 motherboard, 4 gig corsair xms3 ram.
    Price paid (optional): £160
    Problem experienced
    - Goods not received (list items): All
    - Poor communication from seller (y/n): Y
    - Unreasonably late despatch/receipt (time frame): Yes. Detailed below.

    -Paid 31st Dec.
-Claimed postage date 3rd Jan - I can't confirm date from tracking number.
-Provided tracking code but it doesn't give me relevant information.
-Waiting for high res scan\photo of tracking receipt to confirm postage (requested 16th Jan).
-Offered to source replacements if item not received 17th Jan. I would however like a refund.
-Seller can claim via Royal Mail for loss after 10 working days for Special Delivery.

Refund offered or refused: Refused. I would like a full refund rather than parts, it will be easier and quicker for both parties, seller will be able to claim with Royal Mail for loss.

    Overall experience (rate 1(lowest) - 5): 1

Update 19/01 - Below is the most recent message i've sent - Awaiting reply.

As I've not seen any detailed scan\photo of proof of tracking receipt I would like to have a refund paid via Paypal Gift or cash over the counter to my HSBC account ASAP. I think the detailed scan\photo of proof of tracking receipt is a simple request and is the most obvious way to gain my trust, a tracking number isn't enough as it gives no information until a package has arrived.

Update 30/01: Last message received 17/01 - Soniclord last activity: 22/01 @ 04:19 - Not replying to email either.

--- He seems to be ignoring Chicken76, imersa and I. Looks like we might need to post a letter to the address we have for him.

Comments, if any: I tried PMing and e-mailing him for months, but no reply. He logged on once after I had sent him a couple of messages. He hasn't logged on since Sep 2010, so it looks like he's decided to stay away, but might still be worth putting him in this list incase he returns in the future.
