I've just flogged my barely-used PS3 to go back to the faithful steed that was the 360 (I had a launch model) and was wondering if any Elite owners can convince me it's worth owning one over the 60GB Premium version? Apart from the colour and bigger drive, is there any other reason - are they quieter? My main draw for the bigger drive is that someone told me the new version of the dashboard will let you install your games on the HDD, but the price difference is huge.

Also, anyone know of a better deal than Gamestation doing a Premium with Fable 2 and Fifa 09 for £184 - or £229 for the Elite with the same games? Checked all the usual suspects with no joy.

No difference at all mate apart from the hard drive size afaik!

The gamestation deals are normally the best about, better than game and blockbuster. Only option would be hunting around online, but the 360's are so competitively priced by everyone, I would be amazing if you got a better deal than that. Plus fable 2, great game to start with!

My 60GB Regular was £165 so that's a pretty good buy.

I reckon I can get the 60GB 360 with Fable 2 and Fifa09, plus Gears 2, and still have enough left over for Left 4 Dead next week too - all for the price I got for my PS3 with Motorstorm. LOL BARGAIN!

I believe the Elite models had a better chip and cooling solution inside which made it less likely to RROD also but considering the 60gig is the latest revision - I would presume that this has it too.

The 360 is awesome, I havn't regretted buying one at all.

That HDD thing is a genius move by Microsoft, but I don't think i could wait for it arrive. My main reason for getting back to the Xbox is LIVE, and when GoW2 hits I'll be all over it online.

So do the 60GB models. I didn't even know that until I started pricing them up yesterday. I'm going for the 60GB option as it's got the HDMI anyway, and apart from not being black doesn't have anything else I'm bothered about.

Anyone: how noisey are the 360s these days? My launch model was like a plague ridden hair dryer.

I don't have any of the newest ones (mines from Aug 06) but the NXE/new dash that lets you install games to the HDD should reduce the sonud significantly

When does the new update hit?

BTW Mook, your better off getting the newest 60gig model. Heard they had the newest chips/drives. Black & 120Gig HDD does not warrant a high price difference.

    yup.
NXE allows you to install games to the HDD. That should bring down noise quite a bit, as well as reducing DRE's that some games (*cought*GOW1*cough*Forza2*cough*) are so famous for. I'll be all over that update come the 20th or so...

Mine was made a few months ago, it's almost silent when the drive isn't spinning. Looking forward to the new dash. Should have a 120gb drive by then :)

id nearly say get an arcade and a 120gb HDD. when the update comes you might want the extra space.
