Oh my... I missed out on the start of this thread big time. I could have a field day posting stuff in here! Just let me read the rest of the thread (I'm just passed page one) and I'll come back with any others I think are appropriate. It warms my heart to find that I am very much not alone (nor anywhere near it) in my opinion that stupid phrasings are incredibly annoying. Especially when used by English youths :grr:

    That's brilliant.

I've been AFK for a while, but I'm pleased to see someone brought up "could of" along the way. That's a particularly horrible one.

Also, I was thinking today that it's a shame the words 'neither/nor' have fallen out of common usage. They're a MASSIVE ambiguity-block.

Being a programmer, I tend to use neither/nor because I know the difference between OR/XOR/NAND/NOR is very important.

    So. Guys.

Your opinions on addictive vs addicting, please?

I know it makes me slightly unpopular with some people, but when I hear someone use addicting, I have to break conversation to correct them. I hate that word and everything about it.

    It hurts my soul.

I've never actually heard anyone use addicting before.
It's all kinds of wrong though.
