I've been off radar for a couple of years thanks to operations and illness type things but i've finally seen the back of that crap and today decided to Junk up an old Lian Li V1000. It looked a bit pretty allmost Mac G5 so i decided to spray it up in a Camo style i've done before to see what it looks like. Knowhere near finished yet but it looks kind of funky allready and i've got some more idea's for it including relicing it up before i transfer my i7 rig into it. Had to do the ancilliaries too - heres some of them - Side Panel. Beauty of this style is i can cut and mod it as needed and touch it up and the wear and tear that happens should add to the effect.
I have the same case lying around. What kind of paint did you use ? Any special treatment before painting it ?
Thanks guys. I did another case a couple of years back using the same paint technique and there was more detail on the process here - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=153767 GhuilleAcoustic - i used basic car matt primer spray and i purposely did'nt prepare the surface as i want it to look a little rough around the edges and am thinking of ways to relic the paint as its a little too fresh looking at the moment. Reminds me of a Naval camoflage sort of effect so i may look for something along those lines.
Cheers Bill - i've been thinking up some more ideas after just kind of diving in with the paint hehe !
Today so far i've made a couple of panels to hide some wiring and ugly bits and sprayed them to match the design, i also took delivery of this lot :- New bits I made a stencil and sprayed the side panel, i wanted it to blend in but i'm not sure i like it ? I'm going to spend this evening ageing the case and parts so it might settle down and not be so obvious.
I did a similar job and photo'd the process in this thread - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=153767
Running fine and installed - started to rough the case up a bit (spent 2 days dabbing in with stewed tea to discolour it - ended up with a brown hand lol !), a freind is coming to photograph it properley next week so i'll have to try some more tea lol !
A freind came round today with his nice Dslr and so we have some final pics . And finally, a project for the winter ;-)
