Yes mate Mod 1 and 2. Instructor want 4 hours training for MOD 1, then a further 8 Hours for MOD 2 :eeek: All money money money.

Trying to get MOD 1 out the way for next Friday (27th)

MOD 2 when i scrape the money together.

Still undecided what bike to get, i want something powerful enough (not to go crazy on i promise) so i wont want to change it after a few months.

how about a honda cbf500/600 restricted its a cheap and powerful choise.

i paid for 5 days lessons 660 quid including theory so i would be an idiot to fail mod1/mod2 lol.

Learning on the CBF 500, feels like a solid bike and comfortable to ride, so it could be an option to buy one.

Not sure if there would be a great difference between the 500 and 600?

    Grabbed this off another forum

If I was going to chose between the 2 I would defiantly grab several quotes on either bike for insurance because that's were the price may differ since 500/600 around the same price point £2000/3000.

These CBT stories... It is because CBT isn't actually a test, it is training therefore you can't fail.

Thinking about getting my license actually, since I no longer have a car (sold it when I moved in with my girlfriend about 3 years ago now as we didn't really need two and hers was newer). Fancied one for a while so I'm going to start saving what spare pennies I can find. Not in any particular rush but I need to get it out of my system!

Just looking at the cheapest and best ways of going about it all.

For a bike I quite fancy the Kawasaki ER-5, mainly because it is super cheap but still is respectably good and looks very nice to my eyes. Could pick up a 2002-3 low mileage one for roughly around £1000.

CBT, theory, MOD1 and MOD2 come in at around £220 without any lessons/training.

Basic equipment - helmet, jacket and gloves (sharp 5 helmet and CE armour jacket) comes to about £250.

I had an insurance quote for around £200 on the above bike as a new rider (but having held drivers license for 12 years) which I thought was pretty reasonable. Tax is dirt cheap (£55) after owning a car and fuel comsumption is laughable.

I worked out that after the test, bike and equipment is paid for, the cost of insurance, tax and fuel will only come to £50 a month. I remember years ago spending £250 a month with my car on fuel alone.

    On the road for £1500?

A couple years ago i thought the world about r125s they just came out, they where massive, beautiful, works of art in my mind... I changed my desktop to this beautiful R125 i always wanted.

Then it finally happened, years later i managed to walk into a dealership and buy my dream bike after allot of hard work... Within 5 minutes the appreciation wore off and now it's falling apart to my laziness and self neglect.

Tomorrow guys, give your rides a good clean, check the oil, fix the minor problem or two, and enjoy it :)

Also never tighten your panels too tight... They'll break! and if you do buy a bike from new make sure you have that service at 600 miles because it really is important!

Gratz on your new purchase! You'll be even more chuffed when you shift those L plates :D

Been down to a bike showroom today myself... let's just say I won't be riding my CBF125 for much longer...

Patience now, photos and vids as soon as I get it :D

I may do if the weather holds up! The recent trend seems to be a few brilliant days followed by a few dismal weeks of rain  and we've got a few sunny days coming up...! Will see how it looks closer to the date :thumb: You thinking of going too?
