The mSATA SSD is a nice touch, No power lead and no SATA cable ... nice and simple, makes me wonder why we mess about will standard size SSD's. Great work
Thanks gents. I just finished first test and all seem to be ok. CPU sitting @ 50C in passive cooling mode. What I didn't mention is that I bolted CPU heatsink to chassis (+ some thermal compound for better heat transfer), so whole aluminium side part helps with cooling
Well that's certainly a more important detail. Is that 50C at load, then? If so, is there really much need to have the extra fan?
Usually I'm not a big fan of itx builds, but this is looking great Anodized aluminium, this mod can't be nothing but PERFECT Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks Just finishes stress testing... CPU temps. peaking 62C, with blower @ 1200rpm (slowest possible), so it practically NOISELESS. Everything behaves how I wanted it to, so I'm happy
I wanna see the bloomin' insides! The enclosure I've seen in my imagination already. -How does stuff fit?
Nice revision Peter, shes lost a lot of weight & looking great. It's a classic & me likey, thanks for doing more of a log this time, appreciated.
Thanks guys. Internals layout. No eyecandy, as I was really looking for ''off the shelf'' solutions here, no custom cabling, component mods... That black part sitting next to it is blower cover. It's needed to redirect airflow trough CPU heatsink, because blower it self is mounted other way around, not at is should be. This way, it extracts hot air and exhausts it out of the case. A little bit of statistics now. Tenuis 2 is more than 2.5x smaller in volume as original Tenuis. (16.55L ---> 6.28L). It's a bit shorter 740mm (850mm Tenuis), but much slimmer, 43mm (95mm Tenuis). Here they are sitting next to each other, during some testing
Looks fantastic! But could you not shave a few centimeters off by moving the harddrive and dvd drive down? I love the designs of these!
Packed tight like a laptop but with better access & the cabling looks good to me. Doubt I could make something slimmer, 43mm is really good going, matches the Intel NUC but this is far nicer.
Thanks p0Pe! Yes, I could squeeze it a bit more, by moving DVD and HDD lower or use smaller HDD or use half height sound card, but it would be too short in my opinion. I wanted to preserve this slim and tall design. Also 75 cm is pretty much standard desk size, if you want to have it as PC for work and this kind of height is also just right for htpc... (switching on, inserting dvd from standing comfortably, etc...) Thank you Wayne. I'm happy with 43mm. 5mm is just wood
Beautiful!! Even though you could lower it some as p0Pe says, I'm very fond of the tall/slim design and wouldn't change a bit
Looks beautiful, I'd have been tempted to ditch the hard drive and optical drive and make it even smaller. Wonderful build though.
