I've been looking into a new PC lately, and I've decided the case I want is the Corsair 250D. Looking at this picture of it on their website, how does anyone ever get a PC to look so neat? My current PC is in a big tower case, it has generous cable routing holes and plenty of room. However mine still looks like a complete mess compared to this. So before I build my dream PC, what do I need to buy/do for my computer to look that great?
It takes a long time, and a lot of patience, don't expect to get results like that first time. I've cobbled together a few machines and have never been able to get anywhere close to that level of neatness. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Try using a PSU that is 20mm too deep with full length cables, in a case like mine: Not good for your OCD!
If Silverstone did a hybrid fan mode then I'd have gone for it. However, they don't and I wasn't happy with the noise output of the Strider Gold, so it went back along with the short cables
Thanks for the advice, I'm looking into the Silverstone with short cables. Either than or a Corsair RM (that's the one with the fans that stop at low power draw, right?). I also would like to put some LED's in this build, although not really ostentatious ones. More like a subtle glow round the window, what do I buy for that?
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=268806 GeorgeK answered someone else's similar lighting question here. I can't add anything more to that really. with Phobyas you can get the remote control to change the light colour. Pretty awesome.
On the advice given I bought some led strips from EBAY and used double sided sticky foam as the sticky stuff on the back wasn't the best. It looks great.
If you're having issues with your led strips sticking grab a stick of the cheapest super glue you can find and viola. I have 2 but Phoenix strips on the side of my case glued in place and have had no problems. As well as you can pull them right off the case if you don't want them anymore or to rearrange them. Just don't glue them to other cables etc...
I have two strips - with one the double sided sticky stuff was fine and with the other it constantly fell off... For that one I drilled a couple of tiny holes in the case behind the front panel and used cable ties to hold it in place
Don't know if it's an issue with your setup or whether it is possible with your case, but can you position your hard drives so that the cables plug in out of sight?
Are there any alternatives to the PP06 Silverstone short cables? It's a shame they can only be used on Silverstone PSU's.
I'd concurr the above; Time, patience, cable ties galore, fully modular PSUs and a lot of OCD over getting it juuuust right.
