Its not funny or clever to change the name of a company to make it an insult. To be honest it just makes me stop reading whatever you're writing about, and makes people sound petty. Examples include: Parcelfarce Evilbay Halfrauds Etc. Whats the point? Its just stupid. Now stop doing it.
Spoken Like a true Daily Fail reader No EDIT: Most of the time it's a case of people/companies puting no effort into even trying to get my name right so I put no effort into getting theirs right...
Other examples include but are not limited to; Desperate Parcel Distribution Definite Parcel Destroyers ShedEX Useless Parcel Service S***ty Link Royal Fail Fixed Or Repaired Daily (Ford) Renwoe (lol) Reno Stealership (although that one's true, believe me!) I'm inclined to agree with you, but the sheer amount of this combined with generally terrible English on car forums (caution: mind the huge generalization) makes it hard for me to read interesting threads that if written in half decent English, would be... well, readable.
I get called Mark all the time as well! And all these years I thought it was English people interpreting my (not actually that strong) NI accent wrong! Well, that theory's put to bed then.
Common ones here - Fleabay/Feebay Royal Fail/Parcel Farce Die Parcel Die [DPD] P*ssy World HM Robbers and Cheats
It isn't so much changing the name to make it sound funny, it's about altering the name so that it becomes a true reflection of the nature of that company and highlights its failings. Feebay for example is perfectly accurate, since ebay charges very high fees ( along with paypal that is owned by ebay anyway- so double the fees from one company effectively ). Parcel farce and royalfail are also entirely accurate names, given how often they lose or damage parcels ( over a million a year- a small percentage, but still a huge number ). It's not all about trying to sound funny, but accurate moreover..
Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious = LOTUS. Nissan Squashed Fly = Qasquai. Ford Crappy = Ford Capri. Slapding/Splading = Spalding. Vauxhall Disaster = Vauxhall Astra. Ford Fister - Fiesta
It ind this really annoys me when people talk about politics rather than retail. They could have something very interesting to say on the topic at hand, but having their point mixed in with amazingly original puns like BLIAR and CaMORON, make them look idiotic and their message moot.
Its not accurate though, it's wrong. If you want a description, use a description. If you want a name, use a name. Otherwise you just sound like ridiculous.
Lance (Aussie pronunciation)? More like Pance, I say. What are things coming to if we can't throw a few cheap insults around in the Genitals board? Bit-tech? More like **it-tech!
Kiwi pronunciation...... Long A thank you very much. I'm all for the insulting, I just don't get the swap name thing. Sorry. I'm weird.
I agree. They were quirky for a while but most now sound incredibly cliche and overused. The only one I still use (and was using long before Royal Fail etc) is "human remains" for HR.
