I do that, but Kodi hasn't got Netflix nor Amazon Prime plugins :sigh:

I do that for the kids DVD's so they don't scratch them and the movie starts immediately.
As a DVD weighs in at about 5GB I get ~200 movies to a terabyte.
MakeMKV does the ripping by itself and don't bother with compressing, takes too much time when space is so cheap :D

Mine comes down hiding the TV and blocks about 1/3d of the doorway :D

I must admit I am tempted at some point to convert my DVD's to a digital format, the downside is if I ever sold said DVD I would need to delete the content.

I just need lots of time to do it.

This is why I download them. It takes me literally minutes to download a film instead of manually ripping & converting. To say nothing of making sure you've got the right encoding settings...

And with downloading you get proper setting all the time?

Not necessarily, but usually someone else has done the hard work to get good picture quality settings.

Just as long as no one asks questions about the lag in the deletion process

Really? in my experience, someone else has usually done their best to use the most obscure settings to get the blockiest and worst picture ever ;)

Like the idiots that place videos in a non-removable frame? (my kids watch that stuff on youtube)
