hello all. I was thinking about making something like this: http://www.oakridgehobbies.com/jigsaw_puzzles/bcbones_puzzles.html exept i was planning on making it out of acryllic glass. Problem is that i just cant find a template for how to cut out the pieces. (i know i cant draw something like that myself.) I can modify it, but not draw the whole thing. Does anyone know where i can find something similar? it doesn't NEED to be a dinosaur. i want it to be a little adwanced (i have found plans for some 5-piece versions.. that is just to boring) Thanks
I just happen to have the patterns for a Stegosaurus! Last year I was also looking for patterns, and cooincidently ran across one of the puzzles on the clearance rack for $1. I picked it up and scanned everthing into the computer because I was planning on making a 3-D model of the dino. The one I have might be a little more complex than you were looking for, 44 pieces. I've got the scans all zipped up. PM me your email address if you are interested. Matt
You may have already found what you were looking for, but this also sounds like something you might be able to do with Irregular Grid Painter. Might help?
i have found what i'm looking for, but i'm always open for ideas What is actually Irregular Grid Painter? i tried to google, but i didn't quite get it..
Erm, methinks it's this program http://home.comcast.net/~zlosk/pgmg/igp/downloads.html I think it just slaps a random grid down onto the pic. Alternately, ask coolermeister about how he does those jiggly saw puzzles every year.
ok. so i'm finished with all the cutting. at the moment it looks like this: I did cut the "mountng grooves" a bit big, so the pieces sits a bit loose. i'l get some plex glue to fix this. (you can see the ribs are a bit uneven) i was orignally gong to polish the edges, but i think it looks better as it is now (the details shows better). it is quite cool to se how it reflects light (you can see a bit of the effect in the pictures.
Wow, great skill you've got there, I like it! How did you cut them all so neatly? Put a CCFL under the dino, you should get a nice glow in the plexi.
I used a jugsaw with some "clean cut" blades made for cutting curves (small blade). Turned out it was great for plexi. I was actually planing on making a shelf with some light in it to put glass sculptures and stuff on. I think i'll use LED's though, as they give of a much nicer color.
