Goolge should stick to making a great search machine (altough, with a lot of *ignorable* ads) and let the Foxes do their job in whooping IE ;)

    Good.
There really isn't any point anyway, I'm perfectly happy with Fx, and imagine that if people really are that obsessed with Google then they can just use a Google theme.

GOOGLE IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD!! Good for them, though! They have a good product and if they keep delivering the quality we have come to expect from them I have no complaint.

On a vaugely related note. what ever became of the Google OS project? If anyone can make Linux a reality for mainstream users, it would have to be Google :thumb:

I wouldn't mind if Google took over the world ahead of Microsoft, they seem nicer :p

I think googles doing the right thing here. Why compete with an already growing browser(firefox) and an already established one(IE) when they can effectively partner up with the growing one. Google are very good at making free things pay money. That's why MS hate them, MS develop things that take years and want to sell them, google does the same and gives it away for free.

Their own browser isn't neccesary, they're doing very well as it is, and there really just isn't any need for another mainstream browser.

Google are testimony that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for good software (they just give it away for free).

It would be great to see Google and Mozilla just come together....seems like the perfect merger if you ask me :)

I don't think we'll see that happen. One is a multi-billion dollar publicly owned corporation, the other is an open source developement group. They go well together, but I think they're too fundamentally different to merge in any serious way.

I dunno... Google have a reputation for producing good, free software, and if that transferred to their browser, I see no reason not to use it.

Why make a browser? Anyone who is going to switch will switch to a Google-supported Firefox anyway. The idea is to create a browser that overtakes IE in popularity -- not multiple browsers that, together, overtake IE (though that would be nice, too).

There are tons of things Google can make anyway, they don't need to spend time on a browser.
