Its needs to run on some light photoshop tasks and light CAD programs not much, and i will not be upgrading to vista untill another hardware upgrade anyways heres a list i made up of my own from ocuk but anyadvise u would like to give would be great thanks
with the same money you can buy: INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6300 124 pounds GIGABYTE GA-8I945GZME-RH 47 pounds TWINMOS DDR2 CL4 1GB PC4300 (533MHZ) 67 pounds ASUS EAX1600PRO/TD 256MB 53 pounds WESTERN DIGITAL 200GB 50 pounds COOLERMASTER RS-430-PCA EXTREME POWER 430W 38 pounds sum 379 pounds (VAT included) i think its a loooot beter the prices are from a greek shop converted from euros to pounds (1 pound = 1,5 euro) edit: 430watt are more than enough for thit system
Yes, the above setup w/ the core 2 is well worth the £70 and will leave you more future proofed, 70 more now saves you 100 later
IMHO, go with an ATI card over nVidia as they tend to be better for CAD work, my 9500 pro gave "cleaner" Autocad displays over my old 6600 GT.
wow thanks guys for all ur replies i was thinking about core2duo but thought it would be a bit pricey and i could overclock the hell out of the 805d with a good cooler i will head over to scan for a quick look see thanks
But you see, you can overclock the hell out of the Core 2 duo (or so I've heard) and you'd end up with better performance overall.
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116050 - £235, upgrade to 1gb ram should bring it up to £250 at most.
Still its totally nothing compared to the E6300!! The core 2 duo system is by far the best option in this case.
What about: AOpen QF50A 300 Watt Beige,blue € 47,81 AMD Sempron 64, 2800+, Socket AM2, Boxed € 39,16 TwinMos Memory, 512 MB, DDR2, PC4200, 533 MHz, 1 x € 47,80 10, 80 GB, 7200 rpm, 8 MB, Serial ATA300 € 40,54 Asrock AM2NF6G-VSTA € 54,89 Samsung SH-D162C, ATAPI/E-IDE, Wit, OEM € 15,59 Total € 245 - £165 pounds
never said that tho, i was replying to the fact you said a sempron is like a celeron which it isnt. youd be mad not to buy a core2, but in all honesty maybe wait for the E4300?
AMD Sempron 64, 2800+, Socket AM2, Boxed € 39,16 Why not get this one its cheaper and way faster? only not as fast as an E6400 but you woulden't notice the difference between this amd and an E6300. here are the prices fore core 2 duo http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2006/12/19/Core_2_Duo_to_get_a_price_cut/
I'd say that if he can afford that extra £100 then go C2D. If he can't get two of the £165 units and network their powa!
lol thats all there is too say i had a 3100 overclocked to 2.5ghz and the stock e6300 blows it out of teh water, never mind clock for clock
With a zalman cooler the cpu he suggested intially D 805 costs just about half that of the core 2 duo, and when overclocked will keep up with E6300 in some benchmarks te D805 Beat the Fx-60 CPU. He can save 60 quid ish.
