with the same money you can buy:
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6300 124 pounds
    GIGABYTE GA-8I945GZME-RH 47 pounds
    TWINMOS DDR2 CL4 1GB PC4300 (533MHZ) 67 pounds
    ASUS EAX1600PRO/TD 256MB 53 pounds
    WESTERN DIGITAL 200GB 50 pounds
    COOLERMASTER RS-430-PCA EXTREME POWER 430W 38 pounds
    sum 379 pounds (VAT included)
i think its a loooot beter the prices are from a greek shop converted from euros to pounds (1 pound = 1,5 euro)

edit: 430watt are more than enough for thit system

Yes, the above setup w/ the core 2 is well worth the £70 and will leave you more future proofed, 70 more now saves you 100 later

IMHO, go with an ATI card over nVidia as they tend to be better for CAD work, my 9500 pro gave "cleaner" Autocad displays over my old 6600 GT.

But you see, you can overclock the hell out of the Core 2 duo (or so I've heard) and you'd end up with better performance overall.

Still its totally nothing compared to the E6300!! The core 2 duo system is by far the best option in this case.

never said that tho, i was replying to the fact you said a sempron is like a celeron which it isnt.

youd be mad not to buy a core2, but in all honesty maybe wait for the E4300?

I'd say that if he can afford that extra £100 then go C2D.

If he can't get two of the £165 units and network their powa!

With a zalman cooler the cpu he suggested intially D 805 costs just about half that of the core 2 duo, and when overclocked will keep up with E6300 in some benchmarks te D805 Beat the Fx-60 CPU. He can save 60 quid ish.
