I'm looking for some comments on this setup. I also want to make sure everything I've selected is conflict free and compatible. I've been out of circulation parts-wise for a while. I'm upgrading from an XP2000+ system I built a very long time ago when good PCs were cheap to build...

    Board:

EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI

    Proc:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775

    Ram:

    CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

    Vid Card:

    BFG Tech BFGR88640GTSE GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP

    HD:

Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard

    PSU:

Antec True Power Trio TP3-650 ATX12V 650W Power Supply

+case, DVD burner, and other misc stuff.

Down the road I'll probably drop in a quad core proc, 2nd vid card for SLI (reason for the 650watt PSU), and an X-Fi card. This is just to get my little project off the ground with the budget I set of $1800USD. My goal is to have something thats Vista, DX10, and Crysis\UT2007 ready.

Comments? Also, can anyone recommend a good non-gigantic aftermarket heatsink for this rig? I LAN a lot and don't really like the physics of a huge heavy HSF hanging off the board and pothole en route to a lan...

Lookin like a superb rig, as for the HSF I can definately recommend the Freezer 7 Pro, and if u want it quieter just strap on a 120mm fan instead of the original 92mm. Go rubber bands lol

Looks very good, presuming that you have external hdd's for any data that you wanna store off rig, keeping the raptor for executeables, as 150gb gets filled in a blink of an eye, well for my gaming rig anyway!

Oh my - I'm actually going to assemble the exact same system as you very soon, apart from the PSU and other extra stuff. What are the chances hey! Well, quite high actually because the motherboard you have chosen is the best in my opinion as it's the only nforce 680i chipset motherboard at the moment; the Core 2 Duo e6600 is the best of the lot from an overclocker's point of view; with DirectX 10 on the horizon an 8800GTX is a must, and the Corsair Dominator XMS2 is simply the best PC performance RAM.

This is the PSU which I recommend to you, and the one which I should be getting for mine hopefully soon: 500w Seasonic M12-500 SLi Modular PSU 2xPCI-E 4xSATA 120mm Fan ATX1.3/2.01

It might only be 500W, but this will still suffice for an NVidia 8800GTX, especially with it being very highly efficient. It's also modular, and sports four 6-pin PCIe power cables.

Thanks for the suggestions! I particularly like that Freezer 7 HSF. Thanks Nazo!

On a side note I'd really like to put one of those ASUS strikers in my rig...but $450USD is a little too rich for my tastes. I'm a little wary of EVGA since I've never used anything else made by them.

Drop the Antec Trio, try a Seasonic S12-EP 550 or 650.
