I got myself a UV Cold Cathode yesterday from Maplin, but I've been unable to find any UV reactive paint. I tried a couple of modeling shops in town this afternoon who didn't even know why anyone would want UV paint!

Anyone know where I can buy some UV paint?

any flourescent paint will react with UV, as will glow in the dark paint they sell for kids.

i picked up a bottle of hand paint flourescent blue, and hand painted my fans. the spatter effect seems to be quite popular.

uses UV Varnish for the fan at the bottom of the page.

I think this is the stuff I was thinking of because I want something that dries clear under normal light. So does anyone know where you can buy UV Varnish from?

I also found this place selling "Invisible/UV Revealing" acrylic paint for £10 per 100ml:

if you have the guts to, go into the local fashion store and pick up a bottle of clear UV nail polish, that glows under a blacklight.

My girlfriend has been looking for some UV nail varnish for months (for her nails, not her computer), but can't find any anywhere! I have asked her to keep an extra eye out for some for my case fans though!

Tried Boots, can't find any :(

I did try smearing a little UV Hair Gell on the front of an old dead floppy drive and it glowed quite well! The finish wasn't exactly smooth, but what the hell, it looked pretty cool!

Boots used to sell it in Ipswich in their "17" range but for al ong time now, it is not there. In fact, they sold it in Woodbridge as well (This is in Suffolk, UK for people who dont know England).
It was about £4.20 a bottle. By the time I wanted it, it had all gone as it was a limited edition product, along side their light reactive nail varnish, which I have 3 different types!

That hair gel was funny (also from Boots). It wont come off easily and if you get it on your face, it wont wash off that well

Cooler Guys has the sprays that go on clear but are UV reactive. They have 8 colors to choose from. I just ordered a can of blue and red :D They will ship internationally but if you did a search for UV reactive paint I bet you could find a UK source.

Its great to be so unique on here!!
There are lots of gals into computers - they just are too busy to use forums. This one seems a very polite and helpful place unlike some I have visited.

And even rarer, I can do more than just use Word ...
I use Unix and do website designing - how odd is that!?

    (And Im under 21!)

Hello miss_d_bus! I appear to be the other resident girly (also a UNIX sysadmin... coinky-dink).

Boots in Reading still does that UV nail varnish. They have it in their '17' range as 'Hi-Glow' and in their 'Trash' range.

£4.20 is a bit steep isn't it?!?!? Mine all cost me 99p & Reading's usually a really expensive town!!

A really cool one that you can get is a glow in the dark nail varnish. Got mine from Hamleys, but I think most fancy dress shops sell it. Just make sure you use it outdoors cos it smells really strong & after I nearly passed out I checked the contents. Formaldehyde is way up there.... :eeek:
