I remember reading somewhere that it's not a good idea to use bottled water for water cooling but can't remeber what the reason was. I've just taken my water cooling rig apart to clean all the gunk (organic matter) out of it that seems to be comming from the tap water... yes that's right I didn't add any water wetter or the such like. so a couple of questions, 1) Why shouldn't I use bottled water? 2) would bottled water not contain less organic "stuff"? 3) would things like water wetter stop this from becoming a problem?
Bottled water is mineral water. This contains lots of ions from the minerals, which can cause corrosion, which can lead to a build up of gunk. You should use deionized water. You can get it from most automotive stores. Water wetter will only really stop the build up of new stuff in clean water.
i looked here, WaterWetter® Technical Information and i didnt c anything that said water wette wuz an anti-bactrial agent......so from that i gather that water wetter is just a anti-corrosive agent.....
Thats what i use,i get it cheap from my local car shop i bought 5ltrs for £3.66 and ive just got me some water wetter to put in my rig
