WTF? That's *why* I like Steam - I pay, it's added to the games I can play, and I download and install it through their management tool. No messing with serials or activation. If I'm not getting that advantage, Steam's just one more thing I need to have installed in order to get a game to run.

Blah. It's stupid decisions like this that keep me generally put off from gaming recently.

There is a solution - since its a pretty 1 player game (from what I have read so far), just pirate it... All these copy protection things make pirating more desirable than EVER BEFORE!

Sure, if the person decided to install it five times without deactivating it. Sounds like a pretty common scenario.

Eventually seems like a very open time schedule. If it means in 2 weeks then maybe 2k can salvage some sort of reputation out of this mess. If it means 5 or 6 years when Securom finally whine about shutting down the servers, then it blows.

I've just got home with my copy, where is the serial? Please don't say it should be in the empty looking white box on the back of the manual....

    Then I won't say it.

(Yeah the white box at the top of the manual on the back).

Take it back, surely they have to give you a new manual.

That's a shame, as they're running out of customers too. ;)

    Question.

Do you have more than 5 gaming machines, all in which you will install BioShock and play on each one of them, if the answer is yes, then your screwed.

If that's not you, don't make a problem out of nothing. It's like Ferarri upping a car from £200,000 to £300,000, LOADS moan, but it couldn't possibly effect them in anyway

Do you have one machine that you may install BioShock on 6 times in your life, due to hardware changes, formats etc.? If the answer is yes, then your [sic] screwed.

Well, unless the 'revoke application' thingy does actually work

    Uh, no lol.

Bioshock doesn't have that much replay value. I couldn't see myself installing it more than once.

Thats a matter of opinion. I play games over and over, this may well be the new Deus Ex for me.

i can see myself installing in a new Dx10 computer. and install again on the same computer 1 or 2 years on, when FPS is in shortage.

this game has a lot more replay value than FEAR, and i've played FEAR more than 3 times. in fact, i just completed it again before Bioshock demo came out, since FPS was in short supply at the start of summer holiday, when it's raining all day.

But why should a legitimate paying customer have to go through all the hassle? It would probably be easier to download a dodgy version instead.

I'll be purchasing through Steam though, that way I don't have to mess about with CDs. God I hate having to insert the CD everytime I want to play something - but thats a different rant.
