Mnpctech painter, Brad Galvin lays down his version of realistic flames on a LianLi PC-7plus. Brad's process involves 12 layers of color. These layers give the flames depth, looking almost three dimensional. This is a very long process, but with the final pay off! The case will be clearcoated with a polyurethane clear, then wetsanded and buffed to an automotive grade hi-gloss finish. Lian Li PC-7plus. looks really good! Looks like the true fire stuff by Mike Lavalle. (http://www.killerpaint.com/gallery.html -->click on "true fire")
Yes, this was taken 30 minutes after clearing.. It will be wetsanded and buffed out over the next 3 days. @Smilodon, Indeed! It's an eye opening process to watch unfold. @quack, thanks, we are too!
Thank you Angelus! We should have the clearcoated wetsanded and buffed out by tommorow, I'll post pics of the finished case asap!
No plans for the case, it will likely be posted for sale after it's finished. Here it is After clearcoat. The clearcoat still needs to be wetsanded and buffed.
I have a PCA16B here. Want to paint is as well? Looks really nice! BTW; shouldn't the bay covers be clear coated as well to get the same finish? Hmm... I guess i have to go out and find a airbrush and some paint now...
We(you) have seriously come a long ways from Ed Roth and Von Dutch. Modern artistry indeed. The realism is outstanding! John
You never know if and how many bays the end user will remove.. we're trying to cut the process length down.. it's very time consuming...heh Speaking of those true gods of kustom kulture, you sir are gonna dig our next offering.. Von Dutch striping! red/white on black lian li.. I've starting editing the video this weekend and should have it posted by this wed PPG Polyurethane Clear We're doing more of these cases. It's a new LianLi PC-7 plus aluminum midtower ($90 from newegg). $600 with real fire custom paint + shipping. That sounds like a lot of money, but consider taking your case to a local custom bike/car painter for a quote, you'll likely pay double for something this good. Brads been painting professionally for 14 years. He applies 12 layers of "House of Kolor" paints. Don't let the video I posted fool you, it's actually a very long painting process. The paint is clearcoated with PPG polyurethane clear, wetsanded and buffed out. You're getting a true automotive grade custom finish with case for $600. Damn that s nice! I've never tried painting anything other than a base-coat so could you give me some advice? Could a similar effect be obtained using a cheap manual, non-gas-powered airbrush such as http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIR-BRUSH-TOO...ryZ28111QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or do you really need a professional airbrush with a compressor? Also, could you use brush paints, such as acrylics to obtain an effect such as: http://www.commodoregaming.com/pcshop/C-Kin/CKin+library.aspx ? Thanks and good job!
