Hello everyone. I am making a case from scratch and started this log.
I have this tray,it measures about 362mm by 182mm in 1.2mm galvanized steel.
I have started with tray,it is about 14.5 inches by 7 inches in 1.2mm galvanized steel.
Marked out where the PSU will go and drilled the mounting holes.
There were two trays one for the front end and one for the back but I messed one up so far.

    any pics of your designs?
btw you're mixing inches and mm, keep it all metric, less confusing :p

Fixed the dimensions. I don't have any pictures sorry,I am making it up as I go along.
There will be two of these pieces that work as endplugs with a sheet of metal bent around
to make the top, bottom and one side of the case.
    Anyway I have started cutting...

I am going to attach this Lian-Li motherboard tray to the backplate.
But I am going to cut this piece of metal to fit around the top
    of the motherboard tray.

Is that a wood backplate? If it is, what type of wood is it?

Sorry. What I mean't I will fit the motherboard tray to the metal tray I cut the PSU hole in.
The wood is just a scrap piece of plywood, cherry veneer.

i personally wouldn't use my camera so close to a working dremel, considering the lens would be fooked if a small piece of metal hit the lens or a cutting disc broke and strikes the lens.

I get metal dust on the lens I need to clean off. Its an old camera I have had it for years, cost a bit when it was new buts its not worth much now.

I marked out the hole for the motherboard tray
    [IMG]
    Started cutting
    [IMG]

This time I used a thicker, cutting disk to cut away most of the steel
    [IMG]
When trying to cut through it was hard to control so I used a thinner disk to cut all the way through

Especially when the file is worn out, rusty and a smooth cut so takes more work than it should.

i am going to put all the parts using countersunk rivets.
I used a large drill bit to countersink the hole.
    All done
    [IMG]
I tried the rivet on a sheet of scrap steel.
    Come out fine
