Depends on the caliber of the students going to the university - not the university itself.

Currently yes, but may not be next year if I continue to cock all my exams :/

Not sure I understand what you mean. Is that not the same thing? As in, each year you would expect the calibre of students to be roughly the same for any given university.

Wooo I did aqa electronics in college, the hardest paper was paper 2 in the first year, everything else was easy. Got an A overall, best of luck! BTW what did you make for your first and second year project?

first year I built a data logger with its own memory that recorded the light level.. kind of lame and quite boring. However Its output device was a V/F converter so it produced a tone of increasing pitch dependent on the light level (we were out of BCD 7seg drivers) and the cool thing is by asserting LE on the input latch teh ADC output went dirctly to the DAC and therfore the V/F and so if very carefull one could play tunes :p

My second year I built my own delta sigma modulation based audio frequancy ADC out of opamps and used a PIC to record the bitstream to old computer memory and play it back through the DAC and input filter (I used an analog switching network so I could used the same 6 poll butterworth for input and output). IT worked aswell and I recorded some rancid off an MP3 player onto it and made me very excitable. The fidelity was very good considering it was just opamps and flipflops, it got about 25s on 256KB of memory. Unfortuantly the last time I went to do some test on it one of the memory chips failed, I'm not sure why but it reads a 5ohm short to ground through its supply pins and get hot so I presume its dead. I do however plan on implimenting an improved version at some point as I want to experiment with recording delta sigma modulated bitstreams and compresion schemes for them (as uncompresed they use more storage for the same fidelity than conventional PCM).

Anyway here is a picture of the beast :) (sorry about the low quality... if you knew the issues about data loss I had during this project)

Hehe... if you meet your Imperial offer you'll find the first year project a doddle. Providing they don't change it, it's basically a simple intersective PWM (though it can obviously be a lot more involved if you want).

Makes me wish I could have done A-level Electronics tbh. Chemistry, though kinda fun, was a bit of a pain :geek:

WOW thats well cool!! Most people in my class build crappy alarms and the like, mine was an LED clock built on the 74xx series with a 555, it was pretty stable but nothing as good as yours. My second year project was a robotic arm controlled from the parallel port, you'd send a command like arm up 10 and it would send the 8-bit number 10000001 to the port, the circuitry would decode this as the arm up command and send the appropiate signal to the correct motor. The entire thing was over engineered but I wanted to get all the marks possible :)

Just finished a 'Marketing Communications' paper... the questions were quite nice considering the lack of support in this module, although realising with 10mins to go you've made a massive error in one of the questions is a heart stopper, I broke my hand fixing that error though :) Only one more to go (tomorrow) YAY \o/ and it's adios uni, hello real world + money!

Chemistry and maths out of the way. Anyone here do Edexcel C4? Those last two questions were a bitch.

M4 this morning... was better than usual I think but I screwed up a really easy question early on by forgetting to conserve momentum in I and J components separately :wallbash:
And then Chemistry this afternoon which was...interesting. I never could do chemistry.
