this technically is not a mod but it will be soon, a guy at work and I are putting together a modded case starting at the end of august or sooner, but we're making up sketches and measuring things out, gathering ideas and other stuff, actually doing some good prep work before actually jumping in with a Sawsall and dremel. but we have decided on putting in a Swiftech 3 fan radiator, although i know you can buy grills and everything we decided to make out own from UV blue Acrylic. After working on some drawings yesterday and finally putting the actual drawings into AutoCad i have come up with this design, just wondering what your guys thoughts are on it, willing to take suggestions from anyone to improve our mod.

Keep in mind having such large counters with thin material areas, it's going to be rather weak structurally if done in acrylic. In fact you may have issues just cutting it without it cracking or possibly breaking in some areas based on the current design. What acrylic thickness were you going to go for?

probably just a 3mm, nothing too thick, i was going to use my dremel to cut alot of the excess out and then sand/file the rest down to size, and i have taken into account about the breaking :(, most of the "bars" are .2 inches, which will lead to problems if not kept in a clean place...

the grill looks cool.. but if you are a accident prone as me It might be an idea to strengthen the structure, I fell on my PC the other weekend ..slightly intoxicated .. I came off worse ! (ha he sez accident prone ... drunk as a **rt more like)
AC ryan 360 stainless steel rad grills protected the radiator from any damage .. I have a nice bruise to use as a template if you want one?

That looks like an awesome grill i think i may have just found some inspiration for my next scratch build :D :thumb: it will be rather weak though maybe make the strips a bit thicker or leave a section in where the fan divides are.... so have the square where the fan will be then have the design and carry it on into the next square etc etc... that would help a lot.

If you had something weak structurally, couldn't you just JB Weld it to say a clear striped acrylic grill?

just to let everyone know, the dimensions are LXWXH , 14.3 (inches) x 5 (inches) x 3 (mm), i have some more ideas, but they are for the Side panel and PSU, ill try to come up with a 3d version of the entire case, but cant promise anything, never done a 3d sketch before on a AutoCad

k so i have some more updates on my case mod, i thinking about calling it Terminal because i am surrounded by Terminal PC's all day at work and well i was searching for a name and thought of my IT friend when i saw the Terminal PC..

Anyways here is the side panel of the case, though not the actual case specs but i used a server side case for measurements, they should transfer closesly when i get the actual case, the panel follows as, HxW, 20.5x20.1

I decided to go ahead and Mod a PSU while im at it, the PSU measures also as follow HxW: 2.5x5 prolly not the measurements im using but should be close also.

both of them will be filled in with a UV Blue acrylic and no thin cutting like my grill, just a simple box cut and put on, I also have some questions on whether the way i should mount the UV panels onto the metal itself, you guys should know best so here it goes, should i just simple bolt them on or use my Uber skills of using glue (i was an art major, so i know the best of adhesives)

Bolts and doublesided tape are pretty decent options
