How incredibly freaky. I got one of these second hand for my parents a couple of years ago and was today looking for a RAM upgrade for it! I'm just going to buy the cheapest of the cheapy cheapo cheap stuff, like £8 a stick type stuff.

Research indicated that PC-5300 was the maximum speed it supports, and as you've found out, upto 4gb ram as well.

I'd suggest for you that you go with some low-ish timings PC-6400, but not too low that it gets stupidly expensive, then drop the speeds down and the timings even more, to get a nice zippy response.

Out of the graphics cards specified I think a PCI Radeon HD2400 would be best.

You would ideally want a Radeon HD 2xxx series card or Geforce 9400GT as they have HDCP and will have HD hardware accelerated decoding, which will help decoding TV streams / Blu Ray / MKV etc.

Im not into Blu ray. dont see the point in it to be honest. DVD quality is good for me. Do a lot of DivX and AVI files. Have never done HD.

Are them 2 cards PCI? and also are thay low profile?

Today I picked up a New DVD-RAM Matshita UJ870QJ ATA slim drive and installed it. Also brought 2x new 2m DVI-D (24+1) cables to upgrade my stock DVI cables.

Hope to get the graphics card tomorrow.

Ok I got the card in and latest drivers installed and about 30mins of working out how to get the screens up I got it to go. Only 1 problem. My Desktop wallpaper.

The desktop wallpaper is not going on the full screen on both screens
    [IMG]

You can see screen on the right the backgrounds the right size but its not right over to the right.

When i right click on desktop and go properties and then the Desktop TAB. I have my background on stretch. Also tryed centre and tile but stays the same. I installed Displayfusion after that and still the same on the setting in the program.

Have also tryed no wallpaper but it stays the same.

    Any ideas.

Yeh tryed that it didnt help.

In the end i found out it was the drivers for the onboard graphics playing up with the screens so i disabled the onboard devices.

All going sweet now running 2x 22" LCD's on DVI-D.

Got a dual screen backround on it and looks sweet. :thumb:

Next thing to do is install so chip coolers and ram coolers.

We have those machines here at work (SFF Dell are standard kit for the NHS) and just make sure you have that thing well ventilated and you keep the vents clear of dust - they have a nasty habit of getting really hot really quickly, especially the hard drives.

the newer ones have a small fan underneath the HDD which keeps it cooler (GX755 onwards).
