So heres the problem i just built a new desktop for my buddy and it will boot show f3 then f6 on the onboard motherboard display then turn off, wait a few seconds and turn back on, i've tried clearing the cmos and unplugging different things but to no avail i cannot get it to remain on, please can someone give me some assistance. The components in the computer are as follows:
    motherboard: Evga x58 sli le
processor: intel i7 920 stock heatsink
    ram: ocz pc3 12800
    video card: sapphire hd4870
    psu: corsair 750w
    hd: 2 wd 1tb hd's
    optical: 1 dvdrw drive

there is plenty of cooling in the case consisting of 5 120mm fans any feedback would be great. Thanks so much.

update: just tried unplugging the 12v lead for the cpu and it displayed FF on the motherboard readout which equates to boot but the monitor did not come out of standby, but the random restarting did stop.

Have you tried one stick of RAM at a time?

I tried rearranging the ram into all different configurations, i tried one stick at a time nothing worked, if its any help the motherboard flashes F3 then F6 back and forth continuously and the 3led array on the video card flashes red as well, when the video card's leds flash red the computer makes a strange clicking noise. Those error codes are not in the motherboard book or else i'd have it figured out by now.

    Could be a dead GPU.

Or Could be both the GPU and mobo. I remember getting the Red LED on my old HD4850, turns out I shorted both that and my previous motherboard(EP45-DS3L.)

Try removing all the components and testing them out side the case.

Or try and find the codes on EVGA's forums.
