It would have been inter interesting to see a more scientific approach but I'm not quite sure how it would have been achieved.

A very interesting article though. If I hadn't read it I would never have even considered using Bing. I might check it out.

They are working now - maybe not everything had been uploaded when I was reading the article. No matter!

Ah, another potential alternative the next time google decides I search too much like a bot.

btw. there is a "customize google" add-on to FF that adds result-streaming to google searches; alternatively "auto pager" can do it for almost any site

Bing Video Search is the killer part of Bing. It's terrible that you left video search and bing travel out of this comparison, as they really are the two best features of Bing.

My first experience with bing, I'm looking for the BStc0380 datasheet, so I look for:

    BStc0380 datasheet

    bing gives:
4 irrelevant results of the same site!

    google gives:
35 result, including the maybe a bit obvious:
    www.datasheetarchive.com
which had a datasheet of the component.

I'll stick with google, no doubt.

I don't need to know about bosnias wilderness when I'm looking for deals on jockstraps

This is all forgetting one thing - Chrome. Google searching from the address bar, doesn't get much better than that =] Maybe if Microsoft figured out how to make all their services play nicely together...

Doesn't pretty much every decent browser allow for searching from the address bar these days?

i did a solid week with only using bing. it wasn't good. one of the main uses of google for me is to quickly look up a simple fact. with bing, i will eventually find it after clicking a link and reading. google excerpts the exact part of the page that i need for the summary, so many times i don't even need to leave the search results page.

I'll continue to use Google because apart from the search engine, I use its other services like GMail, Docs, Picassa, etc.

Agree totally, once something is stuck you really have to do something major to break the cycle. Take the Walkman for instance it took the iPod to break that cycle & that was phenomenally better then the Walkman i don't see Bing as anything better then google just the same.

I have discovered a flaw in Google.

Search "green car" and set the orange filter.

Yes you have just broke Google.

As I hardly ever use the search from google.com/co.uk/whatever I couldn't care less about how it looks.

As long as Google delivers I'll keep using it. Yes, it really is as easy as this.
