Cases ATi 5870 & 5850

Looking to build new i7 (1366) rig after christmas, but how many cases can accomodate these 11" long gpu's. Looking at this months premium player as a base but without the ssd and just a xfi extreme gamer sound card. Just that the cooler master 840 is such a big bland case, good for air cooling but no window etc.
Why do gpu manufactures keep designing longer gpu's as they only fit the huge high end cases!
Budget £1500 but also have to allow for gaming keyboard and new 2.1 speakers and 22" monitor.

 

May not be your first choice to look at maplins, but sometimes they have some pretty good stuff, I got this case on offer about 7 months ago for £29.99. It has more than enough space for a 5870.

I went with the coolermaster haf 922. Good quality case and big enough for large graphics cards

 

i have a nzxt apollo case and was not sure if a 5870 would fit so contacted nzxt and they tried it for me and said that indeed the 5870 did fit but only just

 

hi heir flick, just wondering if you ever got that 5870 for your apollo? im measuring my case and i dont seem to have 11 inches im looking at 10.75max, did you remove the hard drive cage i think it fits without the cage but i would rather keep the cage if possible? Thanks

On a closer look at my case (nzxt apollo) the distance from the back of the case to the hard drive cage is actually about 28cm which is right on 11 inches.

 

The 5850 is smaller than the width of an atx motherboard, will fit in most cases no problem.

 

wartank, i could not find a 5870 anywhere so went for a pair of 5770's
