I want to build a system capable of doing 3 monitors for work and 2 for gaming (1 also ok).
given the number of mb's with onboard graphics I was wondering if it were possible with a single gtx 480.

I dont care regarding the intel/amd side of things as my work is not cpu based.

You can share the computers using 1 screen as you physically cannot work on both screens at once. Use a KVM switch to share computers between one keyboard and one mouse.

Don't think you can use onboard VGA + a graphics card to give you 3 screens. If you want 3 monitor support, think ATi.

EDIT: Nice spam links in your sig btw.
