Playstation 3 Logitech G25 Wheel: Is it worth it or...

The G25 is about £140 and I really want a decent wheel for GT5 and any other racing game I get for the PS3. The trouble is that I have Forza and Colin McRae DiRT on my Xbox 360 and I wouldn't mind a wheel I can use with that too.

I am aware the G25 doesn't work with the 360, but have also heard it's the best out there.

Anyone advise? Is there another cross-compatible wheel coming possibly? Or should I give in and get the G25?

It is excellent. Go for it. Plus, there is an adaptor around called the XFPS 360, that might let you use the G25 with the 360.

 

Oooh now that would be something if that worked, anyone know if it does?

 

I've had a play with the G25. Fantastic piece of kit. Expensive, but if you're into racing games it's the best way to go. I wouldn't purchase it solely for GT5 though, I suggest you get into some PC Sims to make the most of out it as well. If you are getting it solely for GT5 I'd probably recommend the Driving Force Pro or wait until the newer Driving Force GT comes out.

As for that G25 and XFPS 360 combo, that'd be a dream but a quick search on Google turned up nothing.

I haven't actually tried them together yet, but I've got a PS3 and a Logitech G25.

Trouble is... neither the G25 or their original MOMO (which I've also got) are listed in the 'Controllers' menu by default?
They might show up once connected of course, but then why are other, cheaper Logitech wheels (which also connect via USB) listed in the controllers' menu, and not the MOMO or G25


As for whether the G25 is worth it? You're godamned tootin' it is

 

Just a quick Que - is the MOMO decent and does it work with the PS3?

Of and does the Driving Force Pro come with pedals?

^ Nice, the Driving Force Pro is a great wheel to use with Gran Turismo. Had a lot of fun with it when playing GT4

I on the other hand am trying to hunt down a G25. Bloody thing is out of stock everywhere except on fleabay

I'm referring to the original MOMO though - i.e. this (red) one: ... not the cheaper MOMO Racing Force

I don't doubt the Racing Force is a good wheel in its own right of course. But I'd wager it isn't a patch on the original?
The original MOMO has only ever been equalled/bettered by the G25 (IMO).

I've got one on order meself, just in case the MOMO or G25 don't work on the PS3?
If I subsequently find out they do work... I don't think my sons will complain at being given a free Driving Force Pro

Only played GT5 atm but had a good bash

Gradually getting used to it, makes the game a helluva lot of a different beast

I had a go on my mates one of these the other day, and like you say it does change the whole feel of the game. Thinking of investing in one of these myself, that's what student loans are for after all.

 

It is worth it... I play every racing game with it. It is so great.
