Usually just on holiday, or to visit friends :) We met some people from Athlone whilst on holiday in Spain about 8 or 9 years ago and still keep in touch :)

This is what I have to drive through every day for the foreseeable future. It's got some gigantic rocks that my 350z wouldn't be able to clear, and deep ruts on top of that. At least it's only 200ft long.

    my vehicles are all old.

'93 Taurus SHO. admittedly the biggest vehicle ive ever owned..but a great highway cruiser and surprisingly nimble for a 3800lb car.

'93 Ford Ranger. my workhorse...and whos that lovely lady in the back? :D

50's era (unknown manufacturer) fiberglass runabout....boy we've gotten a lot of use out of this boat :hip:

and my daily driver is an embarrassingly ugly red-ish 1.9L "high output" '89 Escort GT. no sense in driving anything bigger or more fuel hungry than necessary to work and back..

i hate feeling like "The American" in the thread with the pickup and big car (and 3 vehicles to boot), but in my defense, im the only one at work that doesnt drive (or even own) a fullsize pickup. a few guys even drive 1-ton diesels...as commuters! ive never seen the sense in this!

Why the embarrassment? If I could keep three vehicles at home I sure as hell would! I believe in fitness for purpose, which is why out of the family's cars I've got the MINI for short bursts and country lanes, the Volvo for highway cruising and the Porsche for being offensive.

I hate 'crossovers'. Do a few things, and do them well (I'm looking at you, BMW X6).

Back when we had snow. Driving it down a hill in Pontefract, skidding on ice towards the back of a car on the way home from the dealer, and experiencing ABS for the first time is scary stuff!

Missing a wheel trim now, after hitting a pot hole at 50, when it was buried in snow on the way to work. 2 Months after getting it. Broke the wheel and lost the trim.
Happily sat outside Bolton Castle there though!

    I used to drive a 1989 Mazda MX-6

The entire top of the car (hood, roof, trunk lid) rusted out because it was a NY car and for years, it would sit under snow pretty much nonstop from december til february.

There was a huge dent in the front fender where someone hit it

    There were no airbags

If you revved the engine with the hood open, you could see puffs of smoke coming out of the rust holes in the exhaust manifold.

As poor as the exhaust manifold was, it was still the best component of the exhaust system because it was the only component of the exhaust system. Exhaust dumped out of the end because the cat had totally rusted out.

There were several long cracks in the windshield glass

The gas tank leaked, badly. If you filled it up with more than a half tank, it would spill onto the road. The cabin smelled like someone dowsed it in gasoline (because that fuel tank was leaking into the back seat), so you drove with the windows down ALL YEAR ROUND to prevent dying from the gas fumes. In the winter, I dressed like a WWI fighter pilot - big ski goggles and a scarf around my head.

Got it in '05, donated it to charity after being unable to sell it for $100 in '06.

To all of you - if you keep losing hubcaps - use some wire strips to keep them in place. As long as you choose something that's not pink you won't notice them unless you poke your face right up to the hubcap ;)

Or just don't bother. Protect the hubs with a dust cap and leave the rim exposed.

I really like the Fiesta as a 3 door hatch. Too bad we don't get it over here. The 5-door doesn't have the same charm IMO.

Those cars look very clean and well taken care of, considering the age. :thumb:

I second that. No fiesta or Clio looks good in the 5-door version. I must say the new model is very nice, and the 2011 ST looks set to have the same effect on me as the last model did - want! ;) Fiyero's needs the rear suspension dropped a little and some nice 16" ST rims, along with a good body detail. That Ford blue shines like a pearl when it's polished and waxed!

I also second that. Someone cares for those very well, and it's always nice to see it ;)
