Graphics What to buy??

Hi all

Ok, well basically ive got to buy a new graphics card for my misses comp. What I usually do is upgrade my comp and put my old bits in hers, thus upgrading both at the same time.

This is what i have atm . . .

XP2400, KT4 Ultra, 1024mb Corsair, Leadtek GF4 Ti4600 (MINE)

XP2100, KT3 Ultra, 512mb Corsair, Gainward GF4 Ti4200 (HERS)

As her Ti4200 is b0rked, i need to replace it, and was wondering if there is anything better than mine out there so i could upgrade hers with my 4600 and get a better one for mine at the same time. Maybe make use of the 8x AGP on my mobo.

At the moment im looking to buy another 4600 to go in hers, as i don't want a Radion card. So, in you 'l33t' knowledge what would you guys recommend i buy as i need to buy this by Friday as we are attending a game junkies lan that day.

Are there any better 4600's out there than mine maybe??

So what should i buy?

Well for a 4600 ive heard great things about the

Albatron ti4600, i dont know how good your leadtek is, but the albatron is meant to be a GREAT card.

Firstly you need to get urself a radeon 9700 pro, or if u dont fancy that then I have a suggestion!

why dont u get the misses the Albatron 4680P Turbo card that was reviewed here a while back and well ther eisnt really much more you can do than get a RADEON 9700 PRO!

Ive been looking at the Albatrons quite a bit, they seems quite good.

Basically i want to try and get the best gf4, has any1 every benched the different makes side by side to see if any are better?

 

Jamie, if he doesnt want a radeon, respect his judgement on it could be due to loads of reasons why he doesnt want 1.


And the 4680p is slower than the ti4600 from albatron

Fragal, you could try Tomshardware, i know they havebenched every card together, bu tnot the different makes just the different chipsets,

www.tomshardware.com and go the graphics card section etc, give google a search for the albatron ti4600 reviews, and you probs get some good results up on google.

Im not totally against ATI im just used to Nvidia and ive heard driver support on ATI is not as good as Nvidia.

Maybe i could be converted

 

i dont like ati tbh, probs cus im just on win98 still... /me looks over at radeon 9000 pro sitting in box, see what i mean! go the albatron way, you wont be dissapointed!

i believe the albatron out performs ati4600 when overclocked? i maybe mistaken silver but I believe it does!

I had considered the 9700, although my only concern is the drivers.
My brother has one and he has had a few problems Half-Life (Counter-Strike) with image terring. He has said that he has rolled his drivers back to the one b4 the current ones from ATI.

Im a hard core CS fan, and its what i play most so i dont wanna get something that will not run CS.

Im not really concerned with over clocking atm, i just wanna get the fastest stable card i can find.

Ive got a about a hour to get a order online for a card, so any final thoughts

AHHHHH u mean about the graphics card? get the Albatron ti4600

 

driver support from ati is now actually more frequent then nvidia, and the 9700 pro outperforms the gf fx. (and doesnt sound like a dyson )

get a radeon, you'll be more than happy, i was

 

there was a site that recently did a head to head of 7 or 8 video cards... if i can figure out who it was... i'll post link, they were all ti4200s/ti4600s i think and the albatron was part of them

The Sapphire ATI Radeon 9700 Pro DDR DVI TVO

After much debate and web research i decided the figures spoke for themselves and i had to let go of my comfy bond with Nvidia.

The card should be with me tomorrow, so im gonna get my comp prepared for the installation tonight

Lets hope its everything its sposed to be, and I stand for all people who are Nvidia throughout - im taking the chance!!

Yea, ill get some photos whilst doing it. Ive downloaded the latest drivers from ATI and Direct X 9 so hopefully it should run pretty nice.
