This is going to be awesome. I hope they keep the squads and comm rose like BF2/BF2142. We'll have to make a massive list so we can have a Launch day game.
I think there's either going to be a GPU upgrade, or I'm going to see how far I can push my GTX460, really looking forward to it though!
currently looking for a stock cooler 5850 to crossfire with... but really dont want to have to spend like £100 because there really not worth that anymore
if you was referring to the 980x..... wasteofmoney.com when BF3 is due out, so will the 2011 socket, the big brother to Sandybrige. it will make the i7 such as my own and the 980x look like there from the stone age... i still have no plans to upgrade anything apart from maybe a second 5850 at a push for BF3... its using the frostbite 2.0 game engine which scales well with hardware unlike alot of games, so no need to overkill it with raw power.
I'm thinking an i7 upgrade may be needed, and another GTX460 for good measure. In fact, I may just replace the whole lot apart from the GPU, PSU and HDDs.
now after looking at what BF3 is going to look like... intel socket 2011, quad channel DDR4, Nvidia 6XX/ATI 7XXX, SATA3 SSD's.... which should all be out for Q4! (total guess as the RAM lol)
I'm surprised people think BF3 will be much more graphically demanding than BC2. PC lead or not, the game's still going to the consoles as well so it's not going to be a Crysis. I'm pretty sure whatever is out now will be more than enough to play BF3....
Exactly. BF3 has to run on shitty (by today's standards) console hardware. A Q6600 and an 8800gt should be just fine for medium settings I'm guessing.
The game gets made for PC first... then scaled down AFTER for console's... but min specs will be pretty much what you said which i think is far for a "next-gen" 2011 PC game [Q6600/8800GT] remember thats 4-5 year old hardware now. but really, NO ONE can say how it will run till we see at least a little ingame footage!
Also I doubt you'll be using LGA2011. More than likely you'll be on LGA1356, unless you either have stupid amounts of money or want to run servers.
I wonder if my aging 4870 will handle it. Was planning on upgrading before I go to uni anyway but I was thinking of going SFF. Depending on how awesome BF3 is I may change my mind.
Fair play, that looks immense. Will have to scale down my settings a fair bit I think.. bah. Ah well, looks a quality game.
