Its the money more then anything that stops you getting into it, i priced up a small nano tank about 95 litres cost is about 600-700 pounds to get it all running, aside from stocking it.

A really nice hobby just need the funds to do it, though any of you guys (UK) seen the TMC nano cube is quite a nice tiny nano for the desk.

Stripped down my Cube yesterday and today. In the process of cleaning my tank.

Currently cleaning it out with Malt Vinegar, as it's cheap, and easy to source. Although i will stock up on some 5 litre White Vinegar bottles.

    More updates to come soon.

while staring into my tank last week, noticed something different::D
    [IMG]

now a week old (ish) can count 14, when they stop moving, and they're now about 2cm in length!!:D

made my day, especially since ,first: didn't know my fish were in the egg laying mood, and second: one reading the web, neons are quit difficult to breed, and i wasnt even trying!!, now ive got to get a bigger tank for certain!! :D

    Aren't platys livebearers?

Have you just recently put it in?
Might have been pregnant before you got it.

could be a possibility, (had the platys about 3 weeks now, so could very well be, how long till platys give birth for when getting pregenent? but will hae to wait until they get a bit bigger, at the moment they look more like neons than platys, but you could be right, will post again when they get a bit bigger and can tell which they are!

All the various live-bearers we see in aquaria (mollys, guppies, plattys, swords, ect) are prolific breeders. The females will hold onto the sperm of the male for quite a long time (I've heard up to about a year) in wait for suitable conditions, and can produce fry from the same batch of sperm for just about as long. Gestation takes roughly a month, with the fry tending to come out in spurts of ten to twenty.

As a rule: if you've a female live-bearer in your take, you will have babies. Though it is not uncommon for the fry to get eaten before you even notice them, the fact still remains that your female will give birth - quite often at that.

It's now on a slow cycle process. Will be ordering a load of filter media, Sponges, Floss, Bio Balls etc next week.

Also on my shopping list are:
    4*24w T5 Tubes
    CO2 Kit + Electric Solenoid
    Dry Ferts
    Plants

Plant List isn't confirmed, but will have a Moss Wall along the back, hiding cables and weir

    Fish list:
    Cardinal or Rummynose Tetras
    Dwarf Rainbows
    Gold Rams
    Honey Goruami's
    Sunset/Comet Platty
    Albino Cory's
    Bristlenose Pleco's

Should look good once complete, which is the plan anyway.

    Cheers
