I am wondering if anyone would be able to recommend me a reliable dedicated server hoster. I currently have a machine at home which has the perfect spec for what I am doing, E3300 and 2GB ram and these are probably what I would be looking at since it fulfils the bang per buck criteria well (for the hardware cost).

I really wouldn't like to specify what the purpose is as it wouldn't really help but only skew your opinion on the topic.

I am willing to pay anything up to $100 a month. If anyone can recommend any reliable hosters they have had experience with, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

Not sure if it fits your needs, necessarily, but 1and1 run a pretty decent hosting service, with hardware supplied, inside your budget.

I've got a number of business web sites hosted by 1&1 so would recommend them.

Without prying into your purpose, your cost will be governed mainly by how much space, dedicated bandwidth, security and certificates, can you give any clues?

    Here
is an example of dedicated server costs in GBP.

I'm considering hosting it at home now. This is close to what I got at home atm:
    https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Shop/SavedBasket/Show.aspx?Id=13c27425c44d40399f72a9b7b7f6fb43
Except for a E3300. I'm thinking of buying either another one of these or:
    https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Shop/SavedBasket/Show.aspx?Id=7bd83bfe486a47788e099c3d8335cb1e
The second capable of close to double the quantity.

Regarding #2, would the hardware work? I already have the HDD/Optical drive. I've got that very motherboard with a E3300 and it's serving its purpose amazingly but I'm not sure if when running a Q8400 I should get a better mobo. Any ideas?
