Linux Minecraft; Official Bit-tech server

Best thing to do if you have important stuff is have a one block chest, put it in the ground and then just build over it... for example on the server I use I have two block chests up a set of stairs that have cobblestone over the top =] hidden and safe

 

On an other note, i just found something today while checking if my Overviewer fix was (still) working

Damn slow postal service!
Still no graphics card, and as I tracked it earlier I know it has arrived in town - they've just held it back at the sorting central! Damnit!

Anyhow, this means I now make another attempt at MC. Downloaded client again, but it is still unstable and lags horribly.

 

its not your system is it? are you prime95 stable?

 

Haha, could be - it's the missus' laptop. Haven't gone downstairs to my computer room as I know I will be irritated at the lacking national postal service.

Yes, I see the point. However, this laptop has played MC perfectly well for quite a while - in fact, I've done most my MC creations on this machine. Weird, but now it is pretty much unplayable.

 

hmm, have you turned the new lighting engine off?

 

Ahh. Good idea. I'll turn it off and see how that goes.

Edit: And suddenly the world got a lot blockier ... weird, can't remember MC looking this blocky prior to 1.3

Edit 2: Hm, seems a bit smoother. I'll give it a go and see how it runs.

 

That's three lockups now while playing MC and watching the simpsons.

Something funny is going on.
Whole system freezes, audio seems to get stuck into a constant lowish buzz/click.

Dropped my CPU OC down a bit, and I'm going to put the graphics card back to standard settings.

Just hope its not one of my HDD letting go.

 

Hm, that's not entirely the same symptoms as the ones I'm getting. Still, the random crashes aren't as frequent anymore, and the lag isn't as bad. It's still quite laggy though.

 

the lag may be a connection issue. id imagine the lags and crashes are separate problems. hope it runs more stable for you.

 

I figured the problem out... it was a case of the laptop overheating. I will have to clean out the heatsinks I believe.

 

ahh, the ol' hairball in the heatsink.

i run my laptop on one of those mats with a usb powered fan built in. it keeps the whole bottom of the laptop cool and prevents soft stuff (if your using on a couch, bed, etc) from covering the intake for the on-board fan.

hope cleaning it out gets you back in the game!

 

So I just hopped on the server and I am falling indefinately. Stickeh PM'd me the IP but I have a feeling that it is incorrect.

is it just me or is xm server not spawning mobs ?

 

I saw a creeper in Kroy's hole just now, also it's infested with slimes.

Haven't run into any hostile mobs outside though. Could be a bug with the 1.3 changes or bukkit?

Err X, i think you might have to disable slimes, there's about 2 million of them in Kroy's building.

Might explain the lack of other mobs.

 

did you try disconnecting and reconnecting? slimes seem to be client side for some odd reason?
