I have just ordered some Corsair Vengeance RAM for my motherboard but I've been reading a few forums which state that the RAMS height can be a problem for CPU coolers. Can anyone recommend a cpu cooler for the ram? I was thinking about a gelid tranquilo and mounting the fan on the opposite side from the RAM?
You can consider an Corsair Hydro H50 or H70 which are water coolers and the fan goes at the back of the case.
I thought about the water cooling but I'm building the pc on a workbench and the 120mm fan grills will not support the radiator.
I may return the memory if it won't fit. Where is the best place to buy memory scan seems to sell mostly corsair.
My motherboard is http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...5-pci-e-20-ddr3-1866-sata-6gb-s-sata-raid-atx could I run this memory http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-...c3-16000-(2000)-cas-9-10-9-27-dhx-df-xmp-165v at PC3-16000 (2000)
I had the exact smae issue and settled on a Zalman flex with the fan on the 'wrong' side, sucking air through the CPU. Read Me
Go for the H50 or H70 mate. If you can get one go for the H50. Gives plenty of space and coupled with a couple of aftermarket cooling fans it is ace! If ya gonna payout for a decent cooler i think this is definatly the way to go.
The only one I know of that wont block the ram slots would be the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme these are probably the best air cooler you can get.
Coolers typically (though not always) only cover the first RAM slot so unless your getting more than 8GB (2x4) you shouldn't have a problem - although obviously it depends on the specific MB and cooler. Aria seem to have a good selection of RAM at cheap prices but I've never bought from them so I can't comment on customer service/ reliability etc.
