Is anyone else getting this message from their bigadv clients this morning? "Initial: 0000; - Error: Bad packet type from server, expected work assignment" I have 3 i7's idling now, have been all night from the logs I thought this was an old problem and Stanford fixed it Code: [07:29:03] + Attempting to get work packet [07:29:03] Passkey found [07:29:03] - Will indicate memory of 6135 MB [07:29:03] - Connecting to assignment server [07:29:03] Connecting to http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/ [07:29:04] Posted data. from what i read on the stanford forum there's a shortage of bigadv units and the general response seems to be: 'switch to regular smp or wait'
Just got back in this evening and nothing has changed... They're still idling and not getting units There goes my 24hr avg. [edit] Just bit the bullet and removed the bigadv flag from the SMP CPU clients after reading about the issue on the evga and folding forums. EVGA forum thread
i can see that putting a big dent in a few people's ppd [assuming these completely replace the older bigadv units]
From Stanford Updates thread dated 31st May 2011 "bigadv server 130.237.232.141 is going into accept-only mode for a few days. We're getting ready to upgrade the server software there, and we can't have any outstanding jobs when we do that." Other servers are due to be taken down for upgrades - see that thread for more details
Ah not just me then, my SR-2, 970 and 2 more bigadv rigs are sat idle at the mo and I can't get to them until tomorow, doh! Hope its only a temp shortage and a quick server upgrade...
I'm still having trouble - you must have got lucky! Just had to swap back to standard SMP. if the new bigadv units are 12core I hope they amend the time-scales for the bonus points - there aren't that many 12 core machines floating around out there.
Okay, I'll stick the -bigadv flag back into one machine after the current A3 unit finishes to see if I can get another large unit. These standard SMP units are killing my production but as always, it's all useful science.
