Logitech speakers usually offers a good or in some cases really good price for what you get.
    Worth a look.

Don't expect spectacular sound that you never heard like before, especially at that price range (especially if you use an onBoard sound card, instead of a dedicated one), but still very good.

Back in another thread someone suggested a cheap amp and a pair of bookshelf speakers, not sure if that is an option for you?

On your budget the logitech Z4 with out a doubt. I've got a set and they've got a good deep punchy base and a crisp top end. Maybe just a tad weak in the mid range, but for the money you'll be hard pressed to do better.

If you would like to go the 5.1 route, I have heard these speakers and they are not bad at all, some of my favorites that they sell at a local shop.

I also really like Creative, and this system looks pretty awesome. In my experience Creative is a bit better than Logitech but it has been many years since I have had the need to purchase computer speakers. For all I know, they're part of the same company now ;).

Hmm, if u can still find some (ebay), the logitech x-230s were really really good for the price (£25!) the updated model is the X232, so it might be worth giving them a whirl?
