Can any one recommend a quality, reliable and easy to use wifi signal repeater?

I need to extend a network over to another building approximately 30 metres away,

There are outbuildings with powersupplies inbetween,

Max distance I would need to repeat to is 5 metres,

    Wired isn't really an option,

    Suggestions welcome,

    Keith. :thumb:

    take a look at this

    http://www.solwise.co.uk/wireless-outdoor-bridging.htm

if you have clear line of sight you can use directional units. Ive used some of the them before and they work well.

5Ghz would be better as you would get less interference from the loads of other wireless equipment operating at 2.4Ghz like phones, other peoples wi-fi etc.

ive used the engenius ones before and they worked a treat

    Cheers matey,

Looks good but this is something I have never dealt with and am a complete noob to this!

Are they simple to set up? Plug and play?

    Thanks,

yeah fairly simple if your ok with setting up routers.

basically each side of the bridge has an IP which you log on to to configure the bridge settings such as speed, name, PW etc

Its best to give the bridge units static IPs and reduce the address range slightly on the router it doesn't hand out the IP of a bridge unit and cause a conflict.

    thats about it.

they are weatherproof for the most part (violent storms and -50C exceptions lol) providing you set up up as per the instructions.

    Is this private or commercial?
I have used Delovo powerline AV200 adapters to bridge house to barn conversion through two mains boxes (solid core bridge wires though) without any issues.

I am guessing this would depend on what is in those outhouses. Anything that filters or normalizes power flow would disrupt the signal.

Can you not just use outdoor CAT cabling (think its CAT7 but not sure)

It's a farm shop and tea room that I need to get the BB to and the business BB only supplies the farmhouse.

Cabling is impracticle due to large vehicles ruling out overhead and concrete yards ruling out underground.

I am liking the idea of the units already listed,

2 of them to form the bridge and an access point for the other side should do it, would you agree?

    Keith.

    Yes that would work.
Speed greatly depends on quality of your wiring.

Since this is Business I would consider AV500 adapters if you are planning on having high load.
    i.e. open Wifi AP.

If it is just for your "internal" use AV200 is more then enough can stream video if the cabling is good and you get full speed.

Nice unit, would like to keep the budget to £200 if possible and as the bridges are ~£150 I need to find an AP for around £50.

I see they have loads to choose from on the site,

In what way do you mean 'considered POE' matey?

    TY,

    Keith.

well with POE you dont need to faff worrying about sockets etc

if you get a bridge thats POE you can just run a single CAT5 cable job done

    From bridge to access point?

If so, thats what I was hoping to do,

Hard wire from router to bridge then same from bridge to AP at the other end,

    Am I thinking right?

Or is that too simple, lol,

Was looking at this one from the page you linked to > http://www.solwise.co.uk/wireless-outdoor-bridging-eoc-2611p.htm

you need either POE injectors or a POE switch

i think in oyur case injectors may work out cheaper and they may even come with the AP or bridge unit though you would have to check.
