Hi, AMD 6950 I have a compuer monitor and a TV. I installed an SSD. re-installed windows vista 64 Installed the AMD software. When I try to extend the desktop I get an error saying the operation is not supported based on the current display configuration. I tried re-installing the OS and the AMD drivers. Same issue. Anyone know what causes this and what will fix it? It worked just fine before I re-installed vista so I don't suspect a hardware issue. It will work on one monitor or the other. Just not both at the same time...
Can't mirror. It's one monitor or the other. Computer monitor is 1080p and tv is only 720. Monitor is dvi tv is hdmi Nothing has changed since I reinstalled vista. It's got to be a driver or something to that effect?
Catalyst control panel. How do you use windows to try it? Edit, never mind I found how to do it in windows. When I tell it to extend the desktop. I hit apply. nothing happens. it asks me to keep settings. I hit yes. nothing changes.
Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution, the rest should be self explanatory. I've found I've had to use this way instead of through the Nvidia cpl in the past.
Looking at vista forums its suggested that windows isn't detecting the second monitor. But I can select it in catalyst control panel and move the display to it. I'm really stumped...
Fixed. I unplugged the hdmi that went to the second monitor(computer is off at thsi point) changed the dvi port for the primary monitor from the bottom one to the top on the video card. turned computer on. regular monitor is working fine. plugged in hdmi cable and boom. second monitor comes to life. Odd but whatever!
Also, the second monitor is set to 1080i which it physically doesn't support, but it's working? Ok. I'll take a win.
