Super-long story shortened: Digitizer on tablet died. I want to install Ubuntu. Big hassle. Needs custom kernel. Done, or so I think. Need initfs. Done, or so I think. Blank screen. Argh. Use said kernel to get chroot in. Sound works perfectly, but X crashes horribly. Argh, version mismatch, and WEIRD Tegra 2 revision of GPU.

    Kernel location is https://github.com/Thrive-Hackers/tostab3-gnu-linux-kernel.

My biggest question is, is there anyone willing to, and CAN, help me?

You didn't mention the device I don't think?
Have you popped over to xda-developers.com to see if they have a forum for it? Would imagine it is a better venue for this sort of thing.
Willing to help but not able beyond the above, I'm afraid.

    Toshiba Thrive.

XDA has NOTHING on Ubuntu running natively on the Thrive.
