To be fair, the current condition of my CG125 is a good argument against all-weather riding. It's been commuted through this unusually hellish winter and is now essentially one big pile of rust. ****ing hate it.

I could probably have stopped it happening with weekly washes and special metal treatment, but time is money. The idea of spending hours every week cleaning the bike to maybe one day save £200 not replacing a part is depressing.

If I had a bike I really adored, I honestly wouldn't ride it in the wet or the winter. They just fall apart.

Bit-Tech won't let me rep you again (I don't remember doing it already?) but thank you so much. I just wish I'd asked here a year ago :wallbash:

These guys can apply it properly for you too; Linky

Not used them personally because I wash my bike pretty regularly but I've heard only good things about their service.

*self pimpage alert**, but i figure it something that's of interest in here*

My side project will now let you search by bike type. Quite a few types/categories are supported: adventure, scooter, sports, tourer, sports tourer, supermoto, naked, commuter and a few others

    http://www.buyamotorbike.com/search?q=sports+tourer
    http://www.buyamotorbike.com/search?q=cruiser
    http://www.buyamotorbike.com/search?q=sports

It's still a bit of a work in progress on the type/category detection, but it's good enough for a first attempt and gets it right almost all of the time

It now also supports the keywords 'low mileage' as well as 'abs' and 'new' (and 'used'), so if you want a low mileage cruiser with abs, you can probably work out what to search for ;)

**and anyway, i soddinging co-founded this entire forum and website so i can self promote, can't i? :naughty:

I've just spent much money on insurance! ended up being £1073.19 for the year, so not too bad, although that is TPO. However, I spoke to the guy on the phone, and he said that an end can, so long as it is road legal, doesn't need to be declared! I didn't think I'd be able to afford insurance with one, so that's a big plus.

So all good, and I'm going to be heading out on Wednesday! I was talking to the guy on the phone about excess miles, and It's actually better for me to not declare extra miles, as the cost to go up to 10,000 miles from 5,000 was around £240, and the excess mileage charge is only £250, so it's not really worth shelling out first in the long run.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with the guy selling the bike. He's suddenly been 'called into work' on Wednesday, and I can't pick the bike up until after 8PM, which is no good for me- Need to pick it up earlier to get the restrictors fitted in daylight. I'm contemplating just going there and riding it home unrestricted (Instead of getting a friend with a full licence to), but that'll probably ruin the next 2 years. I'm really pissed.

Insurance butt-rape! Christ. At least it's only a year of insanity before it will drop quite significantly.

Edit: I'd ride it home unrestricted... ;D

Had a look at these guys. Anyone any first hand experience with them? My bike could use a proper deep-clean wash like this as it's terrible and I can't clean it all off and don't have the spare time. Might wait until I've swapped out the rear shock though. Looking at picking one up after term finishes this weekend.

Did anybody go to the BMF show in Peterborough this weekend? I was camping and had a brilliant time.

Rode the new Ninja 636 twice (divine), the Z800 (nimble as hell) and a little supermoto at the Motogymkhana stand. The weather was outstanding on the Sunday too.

Just got her from my dad... doesn't have much power, but she's a real stable and smooth ride. Much fun :)

Nice :cooldude: Very good aerodynamically I find, much quieter than my old Arai Viper GT! Bike looks in showroom condition too!

Might look in showroom condition, but...

Brake lights are messed up in some way or another, front brake buzzes when used, rear brake doesn't show on the light, and only 1 light is showing.

The other is that there is what I can only describe as 'jumping' when accelerating in anything other than first gear, at the higher end of the rev range (6k~ onwards) you sort of get a jump like it's gone into neutral for 0.1 of a second, and then regains what little power it has.

Other problems; My grips are falling off, I'm going to replace them with stock items as they're way too buzzy. (Numb hands after 1 hour of 'enthusiastic' riding.) other than that, and fuel consumption being a bit more than I was expecting (Around 40-50mpg) I'm pretty happy with the bike. It's not perfect by any means, but It's a good bit of fun.

I've found with the helmet, though, that there's a really annoying whistle at higher speeds from the top of the helmet, I think it's the air-vents up there. that and it's a bit bulky compared to some helmets that have a more rounded shape around the chin.

Sounds like an ignition fault for the "jumping", has it had plugs/leads/coil recently?

No idea about when they were changed, or even checked; that's what a mechanically minded friend suggested it was though, at some point this week he was suggesting that I go round to his and we take a long look over the ignition system, to see if anything is apparent.

I'd go along with Krikkit, probably just coils/ht leads/plugs

I would pre-emptively buy plugs and leads to test-change. If that doesn't sort it a coil pack should, sometimes a dodgy lead/plug won't look it on visual inspection, and if you're already disassembling for inspection it's worth just swapping it.

Well, I've reserved 4 plugs at the local Halfords, I'm pretty certain they're the right ones. don't know what I'm doing with regards to HT leads, though. and the ignition coil is £60, and not readily available locally- Going to see my friend tomorrow evening. We're also adjusting the chain, since I'm pretty certain it's way too slack- Could this jumping possibly be drivetrain-related? I keep thinking I hear a *clunk* every time the jumping happens at low revs.
