Hi all, Looking for a little help here. I currently run; Graphics Cards; XFX 5770 XFX 5450 XFX 5450 Monitors; Dell 27" (2560x1600) (DisplayPort, DVI) Dell 24" (1920x1280) (DVI, D-Sub) Dell 17" (1280x1024) (DVI, D-Sub) Dell 17" (1280x1024) (DVI, D-Sub) It's just not powerful enough and the current graphic cards struggle. I video edit, photo edit, and watch HD films, but I'm not interested in using it to play games. Currently I can't run Aero without stuttering. What do you reckon I should go for? I'd rather spend as little as possible, but at the same time I don't want to skimp if it'll lead to issues in the future. So far my best guess has lead me to two of; http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-radeon-hd-7850-oc-4800mhz-gddr5-28nm-gpu-900mhz-1024-cores-hdmi-dport-dvi-plusfree-games But I'd welcome some more informed input. Rig spec is in sig. I'd also like to avoid upgrading the PSU, if possible (currently a 580w Corsair)... Thanks.
A HD 7850 would be fine for a few monitors as long as you're not gaming. You have lots of ram so there shouldn't be any issues.
Nvidia cards, 600 series and better, can output to 4 monitors also. I'd probably still stick with AMD and wait to see what they unveil on Wednesday, but it's always worth a look at what else is out there.
Beware of pitfalls. Some cards can only drive a certain amount of displays via certain port types. Read up carefully before you pull the trigger on one you like.
