It's lovely, such a massive change from a 16yr old Peugeot 106! Such a pleasure to drive, effortless, seats are super comfy and heated - it rattles like mad though but hey, it's French what do you expect?

Poootentially looking at a 4-1 manifold and twin pipe cat back system, such a lovely purr and a remap, all depends whether I'll get any bleddy insurance that isn't through the roof!

Me too, always had a soft spot for the C2, not the new 'facelift' shape - it lost it's C2ness, DS3 second also but there really isn't anything else to choose from!

Sh*t to hear about the water, drill a hole in the floor pan? :dremel: Seriously though, hope it gets sorted dread to think what havoc that's caused under the carpet :(

C2 owner SX.. May have been a 1.1 but i did over 100k in it.

Sold it with the following problems lol
    Head Gasket Gone
    Very loud fuel pump
    dodgy starter motor
gearbox wouldn't select 3rd when cold.
    cambelt needed changing
    brakes were completely worn
    windscreen cracked
    passenger window did not work
    drivers seat cushion had collapsed
    missing spare key
missing locking wheel nut key ( i have it here on my desk lol )
    broken fog-light drivers side
rust hole in boot under carpet
    broken spare wheel cage
    air conditioning leaked and seized
    creased roof panel ( don't ask )
broken indicator stalk ( wouldn't knock itself off )
all 4 tyres were different makes
    exhaust blowing
been in two crashes, driver side door replaced and rear bumper and boot lid replaced.
Water would leak in the rear window(window replaced twice, still occurred )
battery would not charge when car was running ( in turn if you touched the car you would get a shock )

Had to replace coil packs, steering arms and bushings when I had it. After 4 years it dropped apart.

Had fun in that car though and it got me through uni.

Gave mine away after 150k, gearbox was gone :(

To be honest after 120k most things on that car fell apart - still loved it more than the Saxo VTS it replaced though :p

You have 12k to spend, what do you buy ? Ideally looking to not spend the entire £12k and spend more 10.5-11k. GO.

Me? Probably a 2nd hand, relatively young Golf. You'd never get a Scirocco for that, so probably a Golf. If you just want something reliable to get you from A to B for ~£8-10K I can recommend a well looked after MK3 Clio (circa 2010) as long as you aren't put off it for any personal taste reasons. It may not be the lap of luxury and the optional extras package you get on one in that price range might be sparse (due to the high cost of factory fitted OE from Renault at purchase) but I'm not kidding, mine has literally never let me down in any way. I've been pleasantly surprised by it. The only thing it's needed beyond regular (12000 mile interval) servicing and wear (tyres, brake pads etc) in the last four years was one wheel bearing, and that was earlier this week. She's going in for MOT at the end of this month with literally nothing but a wash, rear brake adjustment and that bearing being replaced. I have no doubt whatsoever that it'll pass.

Was torn between the GT and Code, lethaer seats and lower ride height did it for me, oh and the extra 15bhp :p still enjoyed the GT just as much on the test drive though! RIP GT, what # was it!? :geek:

It's french what do you expect  sounds like it went through a fair amount though fair play to the little thing, and you're still alive to tell the story, success :thumb:

Ah, the code didn't exist in 2004 as far as I remember. As for the number, I think it was #815 from memory.

Terribly built of course, but a trooper nonetheless...

    2003 Range Rover

Just because I would quite like one at the moment with all this water.

In all seriousness, probably a BMW 320d coupe.

What kind of car are you after? Fun or practicality? Does age matter?

Second the 320d, the petrol is also an option if you're not doing a huge number of motorway miles.

Trying to get rid of my C2 now, it's a 54 plate GT model with the 1.6 engine and blessed manual transmission. I loved it when I first got it but the electric power steering really kills all feel in the handling.

Biojelly: I have £100 here for you, if it's such a burden. :p I agree though, the EPAS does suck.

I wouldn't bother with a map - there's not a lot to be gained, and it's a big chunk of cash to spend. If you do want a map to go with the 'zorst, it'd be rude not to pop some cams in there too... :D

Also, 39 car manufacturers, the list of rated reliability looks like this:

    Code:
    Manuf. Points
    1	Daihatsu	40
    2	HONDA	41
    3	Suzuki	44
    4	Toyota	67
    5	Chevrolet	80
    6	Hyundai	85
    7	Lexus	87
    8	Ford	87
    9	Mazda	90
    10	Skoda	91
    11	Daewoo	98
    12	Nissan	98
    13	Subaru	98
    14	Peugeot	100
    15	Fiat	101
    16	Citroen	104
    17	MITSUBISHI	113
    18	Kia	116
    19	Smart	119
    20	Vauxhall	122
    21	Seat	124
    22	Renault	135
    23	Volkswagen	137
    24	Mini	138
    25	Rover	151
    26	Volvo	156
    27	Saab	159
    28	SsangYong	169
    29	BMW	175
    30	MG	183
    31	Jaguar	188

Static camber cheesecake! Looking good, looks pretty hairy out there though. When are you racing this season? Any events at Cadwell? Would be great to meet you. :)

Yeah, we run between -3 and -5 camber... pretty mad for the road, about right for a dry track. I couldn't be bothered to change it today as it's a bit of a faff.

My first race is at Donnington at the end of April, and the series does go to Cadwell but I'm not doing that round unfortunately :( I had to spend too much on the stupid car to get it to where it is now, so I've had to cut back the amount of rounds I'm entering this year.

Really enjoyed the video, shame no sound... thing that jumped out to me is how your confidence built during the short time on track. From around 03:30 you look very comfortable behind the wheel, considering the elements it was a good drive.
