I know 40k's vehicle proportions have always been... off... but the marine aircraft are all fugly as ****... Yes the FW thunderhawk and caestus are a flying bricks but they at least look vaguegly capable of [atmospheric] flight...
It looks as though a plane has rammed a flying brick- if it was a ork flyer it would make more sense. Only SM flyers look awful, every other 40k flyer actually looks like it can fly.

If you cake any varnish on by over applying it (or by having a cold can) you'll get the white affect. I can imagine it's the way that the solvent evaporates, relevant to the amount applied to the surface. I'd follow Lira's advice on how to spray, it's how I do it. Just remember little and often, and be patient!!

I like the Ork List I have a Large Quantity of orcs myself will put up a list at some point tonight List seems solid though, I would recommend get a few different armies to "test" agains. I just do fake combat turns for squads so I know how they feel with their gear, (made a mistake when i first started of now good close combat teams... everything died) just incase. Not going to run a Ghaz'ghul, i always found him pretty fun with the challenge mechanic as in a 1v1 hes a king in my limited experience.
I'm thinking about adding or swapping the Big Mek for the new Faceripper character (mainly because the model's awesome) and I might have to tweak the numbers on the warbikes as with only 3, losing 1 means Ld tests straight away. I have put together a 1000pt list as well, I'll throw that up when I get time to reformat it (Battlescribe generated lists don't format that easily)

Painting white smoothly is tough , nice job... I've now picked up virtually all the orc models from Stormclaw , built up facerippa last night , that model really is a nice piece of work... still waiting for some killa kans to arrive. Painting in this hot weather is really a pain btw. Just about done with hellbrute #2 feathered some light blue onto the armour to make it pop.. bit rough in places but im happy with it overall , horns on this model really come up nice with washes and drybrushing..
Yep, you can say that again, that little bit of white you can see must have taken me about an hour to get right. Lots of very thin watered down layers, I let each layer dry and then went over it again perpendicular to the last layer.
