My router refuses to forward ports. I have no idea why. It's not just a specific port, it's any port I try to forward. I have it setup correctly. I've posted screens to show my configuration. Any suggestions?
ISP usually blocks port 80 and 25. It is only unblocked if you go with business level offering from our ISP, as they assume you have the adequate protections against attacks (and prevent people from starting to make fake websites), and that you may want to host your website, let alone static IP. HTTPS should be open however (port 443 I believe). So, yes, you will get the invalid certification error from your web browser, but it is for you, so it is all good. You know that the certification is not valid and just generic, and you w
Instead of letting it map to Toshiba-ethernet have you tried mapping it to 192.168.1.111 ? It may make no difference but I've had experience in the past where having the address instead of the name fixes issues.
Is the website your using to check if the port is open using UDP to ping the port number ? Also do you have the web server/software running at the time or testing the port ?
Thanks for the replies so far folks. I did say however in my original post, "It's not just a specific port, it's any port I try to forward.". I've tried forwarding many test ports and all are blocked. I've tried many port check tools and all report the same thing. I never had this issue on my old router HomeHub5.
I don't think there's an option for that unfortunately. I posted the screenshot just to show people I was forwarding the port to the correct device I was using at that time. Toshiba-Ethernet does refer to my laptop which is 192.168.1.111 Cheers, though.
I should also add. I have tried disabling my software firewall and my routers firewall temporarily just to see if it was a firewall issue. It made no difference. I've also tried it from a desktop PC on the network. I've tried connecting via wireless and via ethernet. Makes no difference. FTP, HTTPS, POP3 ports all remain closed when forwarded, as does any other port I specifically request. This is to setup a remote IP cam, if anyone was wondering.
Has it got a DMZ on the router? if so try putting the IP of your device in there and see if you can access externally
Thanks for the suggestion. Just gave that a go, still nothing. Anyone else think the router is faulty?
I would be inclined to agree with modd1uk when he/she says to setup a mapping to a static IP, if you are geting nothing with the DMZ set then i would think it's a routing issues. I know you said you don't think there's an option for that, but from looking in the manual it says the following...
