Oh, by the way, there's an AMA on reddit later for anyone who wants to see the biggest backtrack since Iraqi Freedom.
with NVidia and AMD, they have their colours, so people say oh he is in the red team (for AMD) and green is NVidia. what are Oculus and Vive?
I'm starting to rethink getting one of these! It doesn't look like they can even design a box which will shut. P.S. has anyone got their conformation email yet? P.P.S on closer inspection it looks like the camera and headset will sit down into the foam.
my girlfriend put the pre order in at 7pm... not heard when we might or might not receive the rift. It was a fairly hefty £530 delivered I think... I really need to update my signature, its massively out of date
Just placed my order. Ship date May 2016 Solves my 40th birthday present problem though Might try to push the birthday argument to upgrade GPU as well though. Any suggestions for the rig below? Without needing to replace PSU?
Shame, at that price I'll have to wait until after I've moved home as that's about 2.5 months of what I'd be putting side for my mid-year move. At least this way we will get to see some feedback from the crowd that pre-ordered on here.
You just need a new GPU. With the ship date being April/May you may as well wait until Pascal/Polaris.
High end stuff of both could be Q3 was rumours going around on anandtech the other day. Low end stuff will launch first from both this time is the general feeling.
Will this 780 I got off here cut it do you think Parge for Eve Valkyrie and Elite? I cant really make heads or tails of wether a 780 is any match for the recommended 970.
€741 delivered? Nope. Nope. ...Nope. A few months ago I had a DK1 on for 30 seconds and instantly knew it was the future. Immersion is probably the most important thing in games for me, but €740 + a new graphics card is way too much. It's not like I didn't see it coming (realistically, making it a lot cheaper with all the fancy hardware and software they've put in would've been quite a miracle), but it's a bit of a bummer to now know for certain that I'll have to wait a few years for the VR experience, until it's become more affordable and I can justify the expense. Hopefully by then they've also made it Linux compatible, as they initially promised IIRC. (something I'm still a bit annoyed by - I seriously hope cancelling Linux development wasn't part of some deal with Microsoft to get their controller bundled or something)
Mine is in april damn site said theres s problem in the final stgge for ages. Would have liked it for march Sent from my SM-P905 using Tapatalk
wounder how the difference is between 75fps and 90fps, bet it makes it even MORE butter smooth man, omg I want my cv1, to seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The price is an instant no go for me. Thought it would be a good alternative to a dedicated gaming monitor ... if it was priced around 400 euros MAX, but 760 euros in France is way too much.
lot of people with foresight will have snapped up todays pre order que position and then instantly made £100 in a couple of weeks when rich people don't want to wait...
The price already will put off a lot of people. The general feeling on most forums are it's priced £50-£100 to high for the majority and is £200+ above what a casual buyer would be looking at paying. This VR is first and foremost for the enthusiasts, let's hope Elite : Dangerous gets support as currently it does not work with widespread rumours they have sold there soles to VIVE.
A lot of you buying this do not have the power to get anywhere close to the full potential of the rift, the 970 recommended will run basic aps and games, your really going to struggle to run EVE: Valkyrie at even reasonable settings.. Remember you need to render 1080×1200 at 90fps twice. That's of GTX 980 SLI real world requirements. You must also have 3 x USB 3.0's. rift wont work with USB 2. just something to keep in mind.
