    Hello,

    I have this psu

    https://www.scan.co.uk/products/400...m_medium=cpc&gclid=CIWP_d696soCFcO4GwodVnYF7Q

and a xfx 7870 gpu that I was thinking of upgrading to a r9 380x, this one..

    https://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb...0mhz-gddr5-1040mhz-gpu-2048-streams-dp-hdmi-d

    Rest of system is...

    AMD FX-6300
    corsair vengence 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
mobo is ASUSTeK Computer INC. M5A78L-M LE
    and drives
119GB Crucial C300-CTFDDAC128MAG ATA Device (SSD)
    238GB M4-CT256M4SSD2 ATA Device (SSD)
1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-9YN164 ATA Device (SATA)

Would my psu hack it? Should I buy a new one?

    Regards,

And read aaaaaaaaall of the reviews before buying a PSU, because my, is there a lot of well-disguised dross out there. It's as much of a minefield as LED torches once you get into it, I lost an afternoon reading PSU reviews trying to decide what constituted good value for money. (I didn't reach a satisfactory conclusion, or I'd be recommending one.)

That's because they massively overrate it in case people running paperweights as PSUs try to run the card. :)

You need at least 500W for the 380X and your CPU, though.
