Turbo yeast droppings... fresh out of rack #2...

...I've had harsher* but not many - going to lay down four gallons with various 'erbs & spices, either by the gallon or by the litre - just depending...

*do not, I repeat not purchase or drink (even by accident) a blended whisky going under the name of Claymore.

Turbo yeast infused with cinnamon. Much nicer, dried chilly works too, as does half a lemon (per bottle) though you'll never get them out again and it's by-by bottle, a nice big sprig of fresh mint, and (my GF's favourite) 3Tbsp co-co powder.

I'm down to my last seven 750ml bottles :duh:

Time for the next batch of something...

Now that I've finished with the new 'pooter for the night, I've got a new Brewdog beer in the fridge which I'm about to crack open and try for the first time.

    Looks/sounds interesting.

This is 9.2% Tesco fodder. :)

(Just opened it. Not a fan. I don't think double IPA's are for me. Give me Punk or Elvis Juice any day.)

Ah, no. I discovered Brewdog relatively recently but long before I was given that bottle. I had my first Brewdog beer about 18 months to 2 years ago. It was Punk IPA and my first truly hop-forward ale. I hated my first but loved my second. :)

Since then I've rarely drunk anything other than hoppy American (as in hops) pale ales. I even learned how to make them from grain and turned out a few very successful brews (some would say too successful, hence my brewing hiatus :D) .

I've had one or two bewdogs in my time, they were all quite hoppy. A lot of the craft brewers go for those IPA styles. I've been told by a hobby brewer that they are easier to make than something like a larger.

    Well, kinda...

All ales are easier to make than lager. Lager yeast target fermentation temps are a lot lower than ale yeast. You need a fridge for the fermentation vessel and it involves a temp ramp-up at a specific stage because chemistry. It also needs to mature (or "lager" in brewing terms) for longer post-fermentation than ale before it's ready to drink. Over all, home brewing proper lager (not "lager" you can make from kits which actually use ale yeast) is a pain in the arse.

Ale on other other hand is much simpler. The yeast ferments at room-ish temps and in two weeks is ready for bottling, and two weeks after that you can drink it, especially if it's a pale ale (darker malt flavours take longer to mature).

Just bought a 12 pack of beer with every beer being a collaboration between Parallel 49 and another brewery; no two beer styles the same. This is going to be fun :D

Starting with Parallel 49 in collaboration with Axe and Barrel "Paranoid" (oaked wild imperial pilsner) @ 8.5% abv.
