So I have been having an internal battle with myself with regard to buying a 1070 and I would really like some input from others. I have 2 x GTX670s running a 2560x1600 monitor at the moment. The 670s can still run things at medium-ish settings but as soon as its a game that doesn't support SLI well, I'm screwed. I am going to the USA in a few weeks and could nab a 1070 for ~£340 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...orce_GTX_1070_Strix_OC-_-14-126-109-_-Product Other factors I have been considering include: I want to play star citizen when it releases so is it better to wait for the next generation of cards maybe? I want to play BF1 in like a month when it comes out. I ain't made of money! Am I foolish to not use this trip to get a 1070 for WAY less that it is here? I could buy the 1070 now and buy another next year when its cheaper for SLI? Should I just soldier on and wait? I just don't know, what do you guys think?
A glance at Scan's website shows a Gainward 1070 for £350. Not the same model you're looking at but there isn't a massive difference - it'll still be leagues ahead of your current setup at a fraction of the power requirement. I'd pay the extra tenner to avoid the chance of warranty issues.
Hmm warranty is a thought.... saying that though, I have never used/needed one. Why is that Gainward 1070 so much cheaper than the others? Also an other biggie I forgot to add is that my setup is all WC so I would be putting a water block on there at some point i.e. the fans are not so important.

I built my case into the desk so there is loads of room but why do you suggest this card in particular? The first I linked is not much more to have it pre-overclocked? Also I checked the tax (Florida) makes it ~$480 so ~£360. Good call though, thanks!
Because it has the ACX 3.0 cooler on (which is taller than a standard cooler so bigger fans) but doesnt cost the earth. Overclocking is probably about as simple as it could be, so never pay more for an overclock.
