Windows Windows hangs after GPU upgrade (SOLVED)

    Use an overclocking tool to set a fixed voltage, see if it helps stop the lock in desktop mode.

    I have tried that with afterburner last night, but coumdn'tbget any luck.

    When you say what power options, do you mean in the bios or within windows? I borrowed a friends 3770k cpu last night to put in my rig and that didn't resolve the issue either, so we can rule the cpu out.

    Generally odd issues like this tend to be PSU related, can you borrow your mates PSU, also perhaps try different slots?

    The issue is now solved. The problem seemed to be related to a bad SSD. I had Windows installed on a Samsung 840 EVO. reinstalled Windows several times on this device with no luck. However I switched over to a Crucial M4 which I had sat redundant and installed Windows on this drive, which has fixed the issue completely.

    Thanks for all the helpful responses though. Funny how these things can just come down to something that simple.
