They used to put those in servers. Back when I worked the repair shop in London (98-01) I found a few. They're great for taking into the garden and throwing potatoes at.

    Glue, for Project: Unemployed;

I need to lose some of the internal metal frame of the Glock to get it sitting level.

Today has been lots of sanding. But I need filler now I think.

Wanted one for a while, still can't justify a big 22"+ one or a Wacom Cintiq, but this little baby works just great.

    Four of these:

Cheapest I could find them at my size was £140 a corner fitted (ouch), but it turns out I get a free Amazon Echo/Alexa thingy worth £90, so I can claw back some cash if I don't like it.

Wow, and I thought my Pilot Sport 4s at £100 a corner we're pricey... At least they wont be totally useless in the snow like mine were.

You can get the SUV Crossclimate+ cheaper - they're basically just one speed rating down and it'll save £12-£15 a corner, but trying to find them actually in stock in the UK was hard going (best I was quoted was a nine week wait).

225/45/17 here. Checked Blackcirles and the PS4s have gone down a smidge to £95 and the Crossclimate+ at £105. For only a slight increase in tyre size, £35 is quite the jump.

I haven't really. Seems tis the time of year for messers.

First guy sells me some ram, then when I contact him for payment details he informs me he is out of the country for the next 9 days. I am going away for Christmas in 7, so that was a non starter. I find some Dom Plats, seller cops a deafun for 37 hours to his sale post whilst posting all over the forums.

So I resorted to Fleabay, and got those Ballistix brand new for £83 inc. Shame, as the dom plats were £85, but what can you do.

TBH? it probably worked out for the best any way, as I don't believe the dom plats would have fitted under the water lines which would have been a huge problem. Those are low profile, so should drop right in.

It doesn't really matter what they are, they will all run at 2133 any way.

At least my Vega 64 is out for Fed Ex tomorrow.

Yeah, BC quoted about £135 ea if you buy four - I figured the Alexa would make me £50-£60 easy on feebay, so ATS was the better deal.

National Tyres quoted me £750 fitted. I guess they didn't want the work.

Kinda jealous. Ever since these tyres were launched I've been waiting for them in my sizes, sadly no dice :/

Just ordered some cache SSDs for the NAS...

    2x 240GB Samsung SM863 SSDs, £79 from CEX.

I was on the fence about buying used, but I figure there's a high chance that if these are in CEX, they never lived in a datacentre. Even if they're 80% worn there's still more life left than a spanking new consumer SSD, and these were notably cheap. And if they're fully blitzed, easier to return than ebay randoms.

1540TB write endurance, on an SSD that size, is impressive.

As for tyres, look at the similar tyre recently introduced by Continental. It outperformed the Michelin in Auto Express' all season tyre test. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/acces...re-test-20182019-top-all-weather-tyres-tested

I was toying with winter tyres for the BM but after looking up the cost of tyres and some winter wheels, I nearly choked!

If I went down the tyre only route and used the existing 19" wheels, it's very expensive (255/35/19 rear & 225/40/19 front)

If I go down the wheels and tyres route, even in 18" (which is the minimum I can get away with to fit over the brakes) then I'm kissing goodbye to over 2 grand.

That, and I can't bring myself to do anything but all-seasons on account of the swapping/storing challenges.
Definitely doesn't help that the Volvo won't accept anything <20" either.

It's a nice excuse to stay at home when it's anything approaching treacherous, anyway.

That's something I've enjoyed about Germany so far.

My winter tyre choices are.. Well. Impressive.

Of your three sizes, @Mister_Tad, the least available is the R20's - But still six options. Not exactly cheap though!

Mildly irrelevant for me, though, as the RS won't be going near the winter. It'd likely rust away before I got home.

That moment when it dawns on you that you can't fit a monster GPU to a HP micro ATX board because it will cover all of the SATA ports.. You have three options.

    1. Try using Silverstone ultra low profile SATA cables @ £11 each X3.
    2. Use a PCIE 16x riser @ £24 or
    3. Buy a mining board for £26.

    Here is what I chose.

Mostly because it was the only viable option that would let me use my D2X sound card and give me more SATA ports etc.
